  • Hello Scirra Community!

I'm honored to share with you the following entry:

The Path Towards Releasing "That" First Game

Thanks to all of you who continuously provide help and advice to fellow game developers!

  • Hey jbmoyer!

    Great question!

Actually, I'm willing to read the opinion of our fellow developers!

I normally have a general event sheet with the core gameplay functions so that all levels (layouts) are referenced to it.

Tutorials, menus, or cutscenes are handled with other event sheets. If a a tutorial is similar to another menu/or cutscene, then I would implement just one event sheet to handle them.

I wouldn't recommend having an event sheet per layout if those layouts perform similar functions.

Memory/resourceswise I don't know if having more event sheets hinders the performance of your project. If there is someone who knows the answer to this question, it will be appreciated!

Let us know what you're working on! If you need help, just ask!

  • Have you taken a look at this tutorial?

I know it is the "de facto" tutorial for beginners in Construct, but your question is related to it!

You may also upload your .capx to see what the problem is!

  • ?Qu? tipo de puzzle quieres hacer?

What type of puzzle are you trying to develop?

  • Thanks for the Hostgator tip! It's another hosting service that I'm considering. I'm glad for the iPage discount you've described!

jogosgratispro:WOW! For a second stage in my hosting plans, that list is great!

for the insight regarding goddady! What's the app&game you have sold digitally? I'm eager to know about it!

Thanks everyone! As soon as I open my website, I'll let you know about the service I've chosen and its pros/cons!

  • grimwolf: LOL! Sure, publishing via Steam seems like a HUGE endeavor. I'm going step by step--focusing on making a personal game. Steam is too far away right now for my projects!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Thanks for the recommendation! I've been paying close attention to fatcow, since this is going to be my first website, and Fat Cow's collection of CMS' and Services seem adequate for what I want--a simple website where I can present my projects to the indie community (with a domain of my own). Fat Cow's services are quite similiar to those of bluehost.com. How is your experience so far with ASO? Are you able to use PHP, Ruby and Joomla in it?

  • Whiteclaws: Sure! I'm considering Desura and Steam!

California: Gumroad is exactly what I need right now! Thanks!!!

  • Thanks Arima! BMT MIcro sounds great!

Thanks grimwolf! But do I have to program the website (i.e. PHP) in order to tell the server that the file has to be sent after payment?

  • Hey! I got the same error too the first time I uploaded a game! Do not add any extra folders/subfolders. Just the zip that was produced by Construct 2.

I received the error becuase somehow (I honestly don't remember how), I created an extra folder in the zip file that contained all the scripts and media of the game.

I hope this info helps! Let us know once you are able to upload your masterpiece!

  • Hello Scirra Community!

I've been wondering about the following.

How can I charge for the complete version of a game (via paypal), and once I receive the payment, a computer or server automatically sends the .exe to the gamer(costumer).

    Any services you may recommend!?

For example, Scirra does it once you buy a personal license via paypal.

  • It should have generated a folder with the linux, win and osx versions of your game. You shouldn't have a problem installing the program on another machine.
