  • Wake up men !

"Spriteurl" is a amazing plugin working everywhere (test done) but actually without using webgl.

Instances of spriteurl is supported but i have notice a little bug when i put several side-by-side spriteurl ... some browsers (firefox/safari/opera) put a 1px line between sprites either every times or sometimes when using a scroll-to method ;-( ... hope his author will create a "Tiledbgurl" plugin too to avoid using instances and correct this little problem. A support of the most used attributes such as "Opacity/Effect/Hotspot-center" will be appreciate too.

I follow this plugin dev. with great interest and can't believe some find it useless, if you have to load some bitmaps at runtime (user choice) or simply only replace scenes by others (adventure games) ... this is THE plugin you need.

    Enjoy !

  • , thanks a lot !

Yes "spriteurl" is a good plugins too, working without webgl on every browsers tested. I hope his author will create also a "tiledbgurl" ... just because some browsers (firefox/opera/safari) put a 1px wide space between 2 side-by-side spriteurl either every times or when using a "scroll to" method ...

Good luck for your plugins Juantar, sure i will like them !

  • Hi !, i don't want to hurt you so i will not answer to the question what is the most ugliest part of the game ;-p ...

No seriously there is a important thing that save your game and it is : it's a real game !!!, it's not like my compan360 project, perhaps beautiful with impressive engine but actually no story, nothing to do and no gameplay, so it's not game.

I think you could find some good ideas playing with a old msdos game in the same spirit i have really love => Jazz Jackrabbit (a windows version can be found)

    <img src="https://dl.dropbox.com/u/74282909/jazzjack3.gif" border="0" />

Yes, this game have also some big sprites sometimes but we forget this after playing 5 secs with it ! ... fast and good gameplay and awesome sounds/music. Really consider taking this game as example and you will be in the good way.

Perhaps some tips for your game, try first to put it in a small letterbox window, a easy way to make big sprites look better, it will also improve fps for perhaps going toward a more "fast" gameplay, try to make your character more attractive with animations even if player do nothing etc ... it's pretty hard to make a good arcade game ...

So good luck and may the sprites be with you !

  • It's one of the ugliest game i never seen !, sorry but it really need better graphics to give us more pleasure playing with it !

Instead of that some interactions are really interesting ... some area difficult to reach but it's not impossible (good) ... but i never understand why we can't shoot on left side ... to give more difficulty ? ...

The "car/wagon" mode is fun need perhaps some less automatic motion (ex : press a [up]/[down] alternatively to move and [left]/[right] for the direction ... [space] to go in/out. The shooting laser is useless as car kill all enemies and a little bug as laser can be seen even when targeting accross the ground. Shift-R to reload ok it could be interesting to shoot more than one bullet in a row but perhaps when no ammo make the player auto reload (1 ammo) instead of firing.

    Voila ... ;-p

  • hi, what kind of os are you using ? seems to be a strange mixing effect browser related ? ... have you try using another browser ?

You can adjust the volume of your sounds in C2 using the "set volume x db" option, positive values will increase the volume level of the related sound but keep in mind that the standard value is "0" ("0" db is the max volume before your speakers will saturate) so perhaps to you have a problem recording your sounds ... try with sounds in free C2 packs.

I recommand you using a good free sound tool to convert/managed your sounds such as "Audacity".

    Enjoy !

  • Hi everybody !

I have do some tests with juantar "Tiled Background From URL" plugin loading a tiledbg from url in a start layout event.

Ok this plugin don't work in webgl .. with me is working in chrome without webgl and not working at all in firefox (last 12 and last beta V15).

Despite this fact we really needed these kind of url plugins to make great projects with C2 !

SO VERY GOOD JOB !, you are a demigod for me ;-p

Someone knows if this project is stop or if someone else works on it ?

  • Guyon, thanks a lot for these good links !

I find a "tiledbgFromURL" plugin from juantar which works pretty well ! ... tiledbg size and position is preserve on load ...it's fast and reliable on IE9, works on safari/opera ... doesn't work in Chrome if webgl is on and doesn't works at all even if webgl is off in firefox (last V12 and last nightly build of beta V15) ... perhaps someone can help jantuar to improve this plugin ?

... seems near to be perfect !

  • Yes it is ! just a post because i'm proud to put for the first time a project on scirra arcade ! ;-) ... but my smile don't stay ... it's really bad not to have a way to change our arcade game miniature so ... when display on white background .. (see "new games" in scirra arcade section) ... it's ugly ! ;-(

Please give us a scirra arcade plugin in C2 where we can managed game logo and details (or improve settings in C2 scirra arcade export) !!

  • Not possible to update the arcade game miniature it's really bad ... but not possible to preview how it will be displayed when no update is possible ... give me a rope !!!

    Seriously ... think twice.

  • Guyon, Thanks for your answer ... i will explain you why url loading ...

Compan360 isn't really a game but can become a adventure game engine/builder using IRL 360? panorama scenes. 360? panorama bitmaps can't be all preload at start because you can't preload the world !, it will take to much time, disk space and pc ram to do that ... keep mobile in mind. So url loading provide a way to preload only the 3D scenes link with the current one to avoid to much waiting time and memory use. The url method provide also a way to update the project for everyone in real time. I think web apps are really web apps if they use in real time online loading features.

Now i will look your links a go speak again after that ;-p

  • Perhaps you can also look at the canvas plugin ... seems the best way to create this kind of trees is to draw them ... I think it is also possible (but quite hard) to create a tree generator using canvas plugin so do a illimited number of different trees !

  • Hello everybody,

For my Compan360 project i really need a way to load a full feature TiledBackground from a url. I use actually huge size bitmap (7 Mo) and display them in a x2 horizontal area to move in them with 360 effect.

If someone know a plugin to do that ...

    Thanks a lot!
