  • Hey guys im trying to figure out how to jump on a platform and then have it destroy but stay a solid long enough for me to jump away and destroy it. Like a one time use platform. Right now It destroys but my character falls through cause the destruction of the platform happens too fast.

So think of mario when he jumps of goomba it destroys but he jumps off of it not falls right through it.

Also my game has one touch controls and my player jumps on his own. When ever he is on the ground he jumps. Its like doodle jump

I thought it would be straight forward but I cant seem to figure it out.

Thanks a lot for any input

  • ya those are the instructions on how to upload to google drive they did mention permissions for the folders above the index file file im guessing but they have all been made public so that shouldnt be the issue. plus I got the other examples to work just fine but still my actual game doesnt work. I dont think it has to do with google drive issues.

  • I did that and the same thing happens. Any other suggestions? I tested to see if it was the spriter plugin by uploading the platformer template to google drive. I uploaded 2 different copies. one had no spriter animations and the other has some spriter animations. They both loaded fine. So I have zero clue as to why my game doesnt work I did the same thing that I did to the templates when exporting and when uploading to google drive. as you can see here (https://googledrive.com/host/0B-sD1wBwv ... index.html) and (https://googledrive.com/host/0B-sD1wBwv ... index.html) The animations do load, as does the game. But why not my actual finished product? This is pretty frustrating I have spent the last couple of days trying to figure this out and nothing. The game works perfectly fine on my local server and even over wifi to my ipad. So why not on google drive when the other examples work just fine.

  • All the Files are there it looks like it was an issue with google drive not loading the files but if you check the link now and look at the console it just shows the error c2runtime says "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'type' of null c2runtime.js:5114"

I dont know what that means but all the files are there. The game runs fine when im using preview. But now that I export it it wont work. I know im uploading everything correctly to google drive cause I just tested out one of the templates by exporting and uploading to google drive and it works fine. If you can please help with this issue that would be great. I'm ready to start selling this game to publishers but wont be able to unless it actually works on a server. I'm more than happy to send you the capx file but it has to be to you personally I don't want my work floating around when I worked on this game for a while.

    Thanks

  • ok cool let me try that out and see how that goes thanks BluePhaze appreciate it.

  • ya I went through those long time ago thanks :)I just wanted to understand how the system works out of curiosity

  • Can you guys explain why there is also a boost in FPS when going from scale outer to letter box scale? I have been making the levels at the new resolution and there was an increase of 6fps. Initially it was at 9 with the new resolution it climbed to 15fps. By changing full screen browser from scale outer to letter box scale it doubled and is steady between 28-30 FPS. Why is there such a big difference? by the way im testing it on an iphone 4 and an ipad 1st generation.

  • I will do some tests then see how much the FPS drops using high quality vs low quality. I want the game to run well but I also want it to look nice. Me and my business partner spent a good amount of time on the art so it would be nice if it looked decent. Sigmag Thank you so much for the explanation. Its people like you that make this community awesome. Ashley Thanks a lot as well for your input really appreciate it. Maybe you can add this info to the optimization tutorial that you wrote. I never found any posts with this info when using the search and can be very useful to others who want to squeeze some more performance out of their game just a suggestion :)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • So it would be even more beneficial if I do what sigmag says and put it in low quality or does setting it in low quality already do what sigmag says? Im assuming you should do both at the same time. Clients are wanting games to run on iphone 3gs, samsung galaxy y. Which are really crappy phones so any performance from the way things are drawn is a must.

Thanks a lot for your input

  • Sigmag Ur awesome!!!!!thanks for the reply. I'm actually using pixel art so I dont think it will look that bad with the loss in graphic quality. Again thanks a lot for the answer it makes sense and for your utility :)
