No need to start off by trying to make your own graphics or by scouring the web for sprite packs!

The Construct 2 free edition also comes with a free graphics bundle (freebundle.zip) that includes this folder path:

\Sprites\Space\Backgrounds, and that folder has the missing Background.png file that stumped you. In the email you were sent with your licence file it should also have a link to download these extra resources.

    Mini tutorial:

    1) Add a Function object to your project.

    2) In your event sheet, add this event to create your function:

        Function: On "MyFunc"

        - Add your action/s (get parameter values with: Function.Param(n))

Add a function call event e.g. System On start of layout

        - Add this action: Function: Call "MyFunc", with parameters as/if required

I get the effect you're after (I think!) by inserting a comment and filling it with a dashed line.

    Looks really good.

A question - you get scenes, ships, weapons ... Do you get any characters?

    Thanks!

    Marvellous! Thanks for sharing!

(Now I just have to hope the $91 rebate shows up in my account [can't find an emoticon for 'fingers crossed']).

  • ... I was looking more for thoughts around having a potential new platform/market to target ...

Yes, that's really the question, isn't it? Just what is the potential of OUYA? Is it worth an indie developer spending precious time targeting a plaform that is - well, as Joel Hruska puts it in a sober assessment, "exciting, innovative ? and probably doomed".

  • ... I do believe it's the wrong tool for the job if you want to design websites ...

<img src="smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> I couldn't agree more! There are so many better website development tools out there, specifically designed for that task, and improved though many iterations.

I really can't understand why people would even consider Construct 2 for building websites (the suggestion comes up from time to time). Maybe someone can say why? <img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Scroll down to the FAQ on the 'Compare Features/Construct 2 Licenses' page - see the first FAQ: 'Which license do I need?'.

If you're wanting to publish your game on your own website and to have people play it either online or offline, yes, you always need to upload the files.

  • RenatoB

Not quite sure what you mean by "a html5 package". All Construct 2 editions export to HTML5, and you can upload the resulting files to your own website for public use.

To compare features of the free edition, click on the 'Compare Features' link at the bottom left of this page footer.

What GIF are you asking about? Is this for a sprite image?f so, do you want to loop its animations?
