  • Kyatric: Thanks for the help Kyatric and moving the topic to a more appropriate location.

01lifeleft: Amazing. I never thought I would get an answer so fast. ^__^

  • : With the built-in behavior, the way things are coded yes, it's better to stick to 8 points.

Ashley had to code the physics behavior so it can be widely used, in many cases.

He had to make decisions to manage this.

But Armitage said he wanted to develop his own plugin based on box2D. So after all, maybe a specific implementation may help raising the possible number.

A plugin specificaly coded for a game could handle only issues of said-game.

I think in theory that makes it possible.

Now to see it actualy done is yet to be seen.

I see, so I did misunderstand. So, in the case that I need a bit more than 8 points, how many points it's a bad idea?

  • > That's because of rep leaks, don't worry though I'm resetting/rewriting all the rep system once and for all soon so rep at the moment doesn't matter too much

    Don't worry, it will soon be worse <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Haha. >_<

people that like security and stability think it is.

Isn't it enough to just not use it?

  • Hi, I'm looking for some advice on something that has been eating at my head for quite some time.

For the game I am making, I have almost everything I need. But there's one thing I cannot do and that is spriting. I really wish I could, but it seems that it is not within the range of my ability. Now, my game is free and 100% made just for fun, this is my hobby, and I love it. For this reason I do not care to use sprites from other commercial games and edit them (by sprites, I only mean character sprites, I can make objects, just not characters...). Now I Can edit sprites, but I ran into a problem with the main character, there's only one sprite I could find that fits his style of battle, but this sprite needs a heavy edit and I am not capable of doing that. =\

Now, I have read articles on spriters and people who seek them out. The prices these articles mention are nothing short of horrifying, it seems there's not spriters that will do a job for less the 20 an hour minimum. O.o

The question is: How costly would it be to have somebody EDIT an already existing sprite? I only need this one character edited, nothing else. Surely it cannot be anywhere near the prices for starting from scratch?

  • I am using a laptop and I accidentally hit the mouse pad while the cursor was on "recalculate Rep". :S

My Rep went down 400 and something points.

    What did I do? D:

  • I'm nearly sure that I will have at least 50 or 100 collisions points to proceed each frames which is CPU intensive.

Umm... I am pretty sure somewhere in C2 I read that no more than 8 collisions points are recommended? And you want 50 to 100??? Am I misunderstanding what he is saying? O .o

  • Seconded.

  • Try Construct 3

  • C2's learning curve is not steep at all if whether you ever worked with event based systems before or not. In the end logic is all that matters really.

  • One thing one must understand, there's no easy way to make this kind of games. If that's what someone is looking for, you might want to build a time machine and travel many years into the future. But as of now, as far as easy goes, MMF2D is by far, the easiest engine for this kinda thing. I have done small MMOs tests with up to 5 people, with chat end everything. These were simple tests mind you, but by far MMF proved to be the easiest way for me, Lacewing it's pretty neat plugin. Still, as easy as it might be, a full fledged MMO it's a tremendous amount of work even using tools like C2 and MMF all by yerself, trust me.

  • The answer is probably "no", but hey, you might get lucky.
