  • How about Audacity?

  • Gameplay. But having both can't hurt. You have to consider that there plenty of shallow gamers out there.

  • Okay, thank you

  • rexrainbow: I just tried that program. It seems pretty cool. Do you know if it has an Auto-tile like feature? If not, do you know if it's planned?

  • You can right click on the event editor and pick "Include Event Sheet" and choose the one you want from the list. And I am not sure about this one, but I think you can also set the event sheet that the layout uses by going into the layout's properties and pick it from the drop down list.

  • Yes, you can of course. I think good practice is to save as both, OGG and AAC. You can add them but right clicking on the folder called Music and and choosing Import Music. You can also make new folders within C2, maybe you should separate into two folders, one for OGG and another one for AAC.

  • According to Scirra, the problem lies in man power. They are small and an .exe exporter would take a while and detour their current plans. I'm an .exe supporter all the way, but I doubt that we'll ever see one for C2. Someone else is gonna have to take on the job, but for that we need an EDK, which Scirra also said it's very difficult, so this leads to only one solution, a new tool from scratch like C2 geared only to other exporters.

I believed on C2 because I thought that we could be able to export our game in .exe in add of html 5 etc...But it seems when I read this topic and Scirra answers that it's not the plan.

    : So did I. ^^

  • In my opinion, the best tile map system is from RPG Maker XP. It has so many features and it's so easy to use. Might be worthy to take that as an example when making a tile map system. It also has something called Auto-tiles which are reaaaaly cool and it adds a lot of beauty to the maps. Another cool feature is that you can also link sounds to certain tiles, this is awesome for SFX, for example, steps on different types of grounds. Not only that, but you can also set "passability", where you can decide if a tile is solid, not solid, or it's always on top of other sprites and you can also pick in which direction the tile is solid or not.

  • For music, I remember Ashley told me a while ago not to pre-load it, just stream it. I was having a problem where the music would not play, and then I did what Ashley told me and just streamed it.

I cannot talk for SFX though, as I did not play with those yet.

  • Why would anybody find C2's interface intimidating? I found Stencyl's UI quite a mess, and I hated it.

  • I forgot to add this too: watching Ashleys EXE wrapper run perfectly on my PC increased my Space-Blasting attention five-fold and gave so much hope! Armed with an EXE finally we can be serious game developers!! :D

    Indeed!

  • Runs well here. Maybe some frame skipping but I can't really tell. Some effects like explosions, and the fire effect when the ships moves, have a translucent box around them. Don't know if this intended or not. Gave me the same error as HotGod the first time I closed it, but never again the other two times.

Must report that my attention span increased so much playing this as an EXE. Happy that a HTML5 game kept my attention for much more than a few seconds.

      Windows 7 64-bit Sp1 Intel Core i3 CPU M370

      2.40GHz

    4GB RAM

    Intel HD Graphics Core i3

    Latest drivers

    This is promising.
