  • Am I the only one thinking about VR apps and games with Construct? :)

  • Have there been any advances doing VR yet? I know it's a 2D engine, but I just played this Construct 2 VR demo on my Oculus Go headset and it was pretty cool:

I had to set the Oculus VR internal settings to 3D Side By Side and 180 Degrees. It wouldn't respond to head motions, but it did respond to the Oculus controller when I pressed the trigger button and moved my hand in the direction I wanted the dog to go.

I see a lot of possibilities for VR apps and games with this and I'm curious if I should give it a go in Construct 2 or Construct 3?

  • Is it similar to the Unreal Game Engine where I use blueprints instead of codes for making 3D games?

The Unreal Game Engine is just like using Construct 2, only I could make 3D games with blueprints. It's really not much more difficult. 3D games generally just take a bit longer. The other game engines mostly require learning a computer language. Construct & Unreal are the 2 game engines I was able to use.

If so, are there Construct 3D tutorials on how to make virtual reality games?

  • I used to make little FMV games in Construct Classic where I could manipulate video with key or joystick commands. But now we're fully into the VR age and I want to do this with VR video and export the program as an .APK

Is this possible in Construct 3? Where would I start?

  • Anyone? I'd really appreciate it

  • I just want to import .obj files like Construct Classic allowed. I looked through the plugin list and besides Q3D I don't see any other solution, but perhaps I'm missing something.

Can someone kindly point me to a plugin for this?

  • ^^^ I'm curious, too. I saw a video of a demo on YouTube but I haven't seen any games made with it. I'd love to see some more video of it and know what the status of it is.

  • Awesome, Korbaach! I see what you did there!

    Thanks!

  • Hey, does anyone if there is a way to change the text of the FileChooser button? Or is this hardcoded?

  • Ah, got it. Thanks, korbaach!

  • Try Construct 3

  • Hi VictoryX,

I really appreciate the look! But it's still not working. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    I went

    File Chooser - On Changed --> Sprite - Load Image from "FileChooser.FileURLAt(https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/63 ... 2v9f8Z.jpg)"

And nothing. Tried a local file, and still, nothing.
