  • Yes, I am surprised, I just seen this and I am indeed surprised.

    Subscribe to Construct videos now

Can you do this in Far Cry and/or Crysis?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Didn't anybody mention Cube 2 here? it has coopedit which is basically like a next gen and free coop map editting game, albeit it is formly an FPS game and it's free, however it doesn't have tool building and the such since they're very different besides it features coopedit where many people could join on one server and build a map with each other IN-GAME.

I never tried mine craft however, it is not worthy buying either, I seen some vids on youtube and it would be better off free imo.

  • AFAIK you don't need to know coding to use Construct, with programming I think of programs like C++, Blitz, DarkBasic and the such, with Construct you just use events to make an object do something.

  • Shadowcaster works fine on my machine, I don't know maybe try re-installing?

  • The 3D box and 3D object, as for how they are they're mostly useless and maybe even the ribbon object.

  • Mary Jane simply looks beautiful and full of effects too which kinda reflects Construct's power.

  • Try doing *whatever event* system > Application > next layout. to switch to the next layout.

  • The font is way too unstable for me, also I cannot make it show on the foreground either, whenever I try to put it on front it stay's in the back so I have to delete any foreground objects in front of it.

  • So if I understood correctly this means that it will have both windows and flash exports, very well then, that interests me.

  • I'd say Mac/Linux is the most important thing. Web browser is a bad idea in my opinion, since that'd basically mean Flash or nothing, and that's stupid. You can't play certain Flash games everywhere anyway, so supporting all kinds of PCs would be the best choice - that way'll the game will be playable on all the major PC platforms. I think mobile platforms should be left out of Construct completely, since due to the fact that we're talking about embedded systems getting everything out of the platform tech-wise is a lot more important than with desktops/laptops, thus it'd be a better idea to use stuff specifically meant for those platforms.

Making Construct capable of exporting to Flash/Java would most likely just make the program less capable overall, even worse in terms of performance than what it offers now. I hope you people voting for web browsers realize this.

What I was thinking when I voted for flash was that you can choose application from file > new > applications

These would be Direct X9 or OpenGL (since C2 will use it, replacing DX9) and Flash, OGL will be for desktop which unleashes all power of C2 and if you choose Flash from the applications list you could make .swf files but it won't pack as much power, is this possible to do or this is too complicated? if so then I'm sorry about voting for web browsers myself, I got this idea from Clickteam's mmf2 .swf exporter which you could optionally export to flash but still can export a desktop .exe file normally, if this poll means it will export to 1 specific program (web browsers means just flash and removing the possibility to export to desktop) then I want to take back my vote

  • Unsurprisingly browsers seem to be in the lead, but I wonder if all that voted for it realize there probably wont be hardware acceleration for that.

I realized that but I think it's still nice to have flash export imo.

  • I don't own any other platform besides a PC, so I voted for web browser, I wonder how will Construct do Flash tough, if that's what you meant with web browser. (what else would it mean?)

Besides that, seriously with web browser you mean Construct will compile an actual .swf file or that it will be similar to Game Maker as in an .exe file that can be played online trough a special website built for Construct online support? (like yoyogames to gamemaker)

cause if it's .swf it would make Construct even better already since it will be the only program that will build flash games without having to understand AS/Scripting and able to submit to websites like Newgrounds and Miniclip, I'l stop typing for now.
