  • FileZilla (Great FTP client. Has a server client as well though I havent tried it)

  • After trying out the Kinect at my sisters during christmas I can say that it worked better than I expected it too. Kinects bowling game is a bit more fun than the Wii one. However, judging how well the hardware works by how well the games work is a bit unfair since a lot of problems could be accounted to bad programming. I'd rather see some form of range test application for the device than relying on how well the games work.

I'm not sure how much of a chore it is to get the Kinect working on a PC (Edit: Apparently there are official kinect drivers for windows available), but this is certaintly an alternative. http://kotaku.com/5723755/ces-2011-brin ... nes-for-pc

Also, the Sonic Riders games were crap the first two times they released it. Why would a Kinect enabled one be different? XD

  • What trigger once does is it runs the code the one tick where the condition became true and will only run again if the condition becomes false then true again. Without it the code would run every tick while the condition is true. It does not simply run once period.

What you want to do for your second question is use global variables. When you change a global variable it'll be changed for the entire program. So for your example have a variable for you door and have it 0 when the door is closed and 1 when it has been opened and it'll stay opened/closed if you change layouts.

  • There's so many great retro songs (both retro as in actual old game music and retro as in style)

Megaman 9, Galaxy Man. New, but yet still classic:

Megaman 3 opening. This one pretty much defines my childhood:

Some snes goodness, Darcula X, Bloodlines:

Not from a game, but could just as well be, while ironically being used in a game... ,@

Same artist, another of my fav tracks he's done:

This one is from MMZ2. It's probably one of the best uses of music and images to build up for the final confrontation in a game, before or since (though the vid in the link is just the song and artwork) Maybe not that retro conisdering it's a somewhat recent title, but the limitations of the GBA makes it count if you ask me.

Overworld from Terranigma. One of the SNES's best games by far. If you haven't played it.. do it!

    Some Castlevania 3

Beginning, from Metal Gear. The game might be a bit crap of a port but this song is awesome =)

And of course, Cave Story =D

    (I love this one)

    That's it for now. =P

  • I've been following the comics for years now (together with Atomic Robo it's my favourite series), and while the first episode was good, the second episode was very lackluster. Apparently the show is going to diverge from the comics (something I didn't know until I watched the second episode) and judging from the second episode, it's kinda 'meh'.

The added characters stuck out like a sore thumb to me and the business with the tank was completely new to me, although the idea was probably taken from a frame from the earlier issues. It could've worked, and for starters it did, but things started to fall appart for me as we met the racist guy. They also made a big deal about Rick picking up that grenade, yet they didn't do anything with it (Chekhov's Gun). Even if they were planning on doing something with it in a later episode, hinting towards it by showing it again would have worked towards that. I must say though that Glenn was pretty well casted.

Apparently the next episode is going to be really good. I hope so.

    Capture the Flag? Narrative?

As if the game wasn't addicting enough! XD

  • It's called Open Topic.

  • inkBot: let us know when it's online! I Like the style make sure you can draw it fast, as excessive detail slows down webcomics and slow webcomics lose audience!

Thanks! I'll let you know when it's online and where it is. I intentionally made the style and shading pretty simple just so that I could get more done in less tinme. Using gradients for shading speeds up the process a lot. (sorry for the late reply, didn't get around to it)

    Here's the second character.

(Yes, they both do the thing with the eyebrow. It's intentional =P )

I remember some 3 years ago when I was still hanging around TDC, a couple of posts about some MMF lookalike named Construct. I gave it a glance and disregarded it

Here's to the next three years! *Clinks soda-glass against screen*

    *Crack!*

    Oh shi-

  • Neat. So far I'm only up to 55. This would make for a pretty interesting 2+ player board game I think.

  • I also think the "Your Creations" section works nicely as is. Though it would be good with some way to find finished games, but I think that adding a new section to the forum is a bit much. I propose a simpler solution.

A stickied thread in the "Your Creations" section where you can make a post when you've finished a project. Either linking directly to the game, or the thread you made earlier for the game when it was being worked on. That way we both have a way to find completed games easier, and avoid needlessly changing the forum around too much.

And yeah, having some sort of ranking system puts a needless strain on people to work on their games.
