I've been following the comics for years now (together with Atomic Robo it's my favourite series), and while the first episode was good, the second episode was very lackluster. Apparently the show is going to diverge from the comics (something I didn't know until I watched the second episode) and judging from the second episode, it's kinda 'meh'.
The added characters stuck out like a sore thumb to me and the business with the tank was completely new to me, although the idea was probably taken from a frame from the earlier issues. It could've worked, and for starters it did, but things started to fall appart for me as we met the racist guy. They also made a big deal about Rick picking up that grenade, yet they didn't do anything with it (Chekhov's Gun). Even if they were planning on doing something with it in a later episode, hinting towards it by showing it again would have worked towards that. I must say though that Glenn was pretty well casted.
Apparently the next episode is going to be really good. I hope so.
