  • The problem is that some of the information is going to be dangerous to some people, and the locations of secure locations should not be released if it puts people in danger, whether they're military or not.

For me, that's where WikiLeaks lets itself down.

On the other hand, I have no problem whatsoever in the sort of information that just shows politicians for what they are.

Whether it's embarrassing for the US government, UK government, Indian government, or any other country, a lot of these revelations do not put people in danger, and just simply highlight incompetence or hypocrisy, and I'm all for that.

I have no opinion on Assange, as I've not looked into it that much, but I will say that if I was a head of government and needed ideas to "get this man", a bogus rape charge would be as good as any way of getting him in custody.

Does anyone really believe it's coincidence?

In short, great that people's shady dealings are being put in the spotlight, but things that put people's lives in danger or supply secure information that could be used against others should not be put out there.

    Let's face it.

Only the naive would be shocked by a lot of these revelations, including the sudden rape charge for the owner of the site.

Ironically, it proves a lot of what the site is saying.

Unfortunately, I'll never be shocked by anything a politician gets up to.

I feel sorry for those that believe their bull.

It's amazing what a suit, tie, and a pious smile can get you.

  • Looks decent, but as is usually the case, over-priced.

  • I thought you said Rhod Gilbert.

Now that would have been an interesting interview.

  • KrushBrother, it's just remembering the settings from the last install, assuming you put something like C:\Program Files\Construct. It doesn't know you put the version number in the path!

    That makes sense.

Couldn't you set up the installer to grab the version number and put it on the end of a suggested path?

With people needing to use multiple installs because of the stable/unstable release nodes, I doubt anyone just installs over their current version, so it would probably be useful.

  • One thing that I haven't seen mentioned is the fact that when installing, it gives the wrong version number, both in the file location and the Start Menu folder name.

For example, this one tries to install into \Construct09995\ instead of 96, with the Start folder Construct09995.

This means that you have to adjust it manually.

I can't remember the last version of Construct that had the correct version number in both those fields when installing.

  • And if your game is the next hit... good luck handling thousand requests.

Lol, I don't think anyone's going to have the sort of hit that Notch has had with MineCraft , but it is a good system to use.

I think a good compromise is to have some of it automated, and other parts manual.

I think I have a good handle on this now.

    Cheers,

  • Anyone who has bought MineCraft will be aware of the system.

You register with the website, buy the game through PayPal using the same name as you registered with, the website system automatically gets updated with usernames that have bought the game, and those users are allowed to download updates when you log in using the username through the software.

I'm not sure how anything made with Construct could utilise this approach (though I'm sure it's possible), but in general, how would someone approach this setup?

I'm just looking for an overview of what's required really.

Although I won't need to put this in place just yet, it's something that I think would be useful to know.

    Any help appreciated.

  • This is very nice!

    Thank you.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Yeah, it's going to happen one day, although I think it'll be a slow transition.

Especially after the new wave of 3D TV crashes and burns in about a year or two from now.

But if Google are in charge of it, can you imagine the amount of ads we'd have to put up with?

Too high a price in my opinion.

  • If you have a huge graphic, for instance for a background, cutting it up into smaller pieces and piecing it together again in Construct won't save you VRam, because you're basically using the same large image, albeit in smaller pieces.

The idea is to look at your large image, and work out if you can make it up out of smaller, repetitive graphics.

For instance, you could use a tiled background to give yourself your base colour, and then place several smaller graphics over that to make up the image that you want.

Could you post a picture of the large graphic that you want to display?

  • Top stuff mate.

    Really nice.

  • I saw something funny when playing.

Lol, yeah, apparently he added that on the update just before I got it.

I've only seen it once, and unfortunately, I was outside when it approached.

I'm telling you, running from a skeleton riding a spider who is shooting arrows at you is a unique experience.
