  • Sorry to bump this, but I have had some interest in the "car physics" thing. Unfortunately all the download links in this topic are dead. Any chance that anyone still has the file and could put it up on Dropbox or such?

Wow, have I really been around here for nearly 2 years!? lol

And sorry, no I don't have the cap that I downloaded at that time.

I'm pretty sure that the computer I was using then is now in my MAME cab, and I know I formatted that before I installed it into the Cab.

Maybe Deadeye still has it somewhere.

  • Hehe.

I don't mind when old threads are bumped, especially when the forums are as quiet as these ones have become.

It just made it looks like one of the Devs had actually visited the forums.

  • You've just bumped a thread that's over 2 years old!

I knew something was wrong when it looked like David had made a new post (we're not due another one for a few weeks are we? lol)

  • ^ I personally don't have a problem with the act of posting a "joke" thread, as it were. I think three of them was a little ... anyways.

    Precisely.

And I suspect those of us who don't frequent the Chat are expected to know as much about this as those who do.

  • Can't wait for LMK to release this.

Are you saying that the person who keeps posting these "pretend" "funny" games is LostMyKeys?

Or are you saying something else?

I hope this board doesn't become a place where this sort of thing is acceptable.

They all belong in the off-topic open forum.

    Certainly not in "Your Creations".

Have all the mods gone to sleep?

  • Kinect rocks,But The xbox360 RROD and the problems that this console produces it's not worth buying the kinect for an xbox360.I had 7 of them freezing and bricking before i switched over to the ultimate system which is the good old reliable pc.

Well, I bought the XBox 360 the day it came out (it might have been the day after actually), and I'm on my second XBox 360 right now, which is pretty good going considering it's used a lot.

I bought the PS3 within the first month of it's release, and I'm on my second one now, although it's not used anywhere near as much as the Xbox 360 (or the Wii for that matter, lol)

Mathematically, the XBox 360 is winning, but to be honest, both systems work fine if you look after them.

Although I've used other people's Kinect devices, and enjoyed it very much, I still prefer to use joypads for most games.

Even using a touch-screen PC gets tiresome after a while, so as clever as these devices are, I'd hate to see them replace normal peripherals completely.

I'm sure we'll all be long gone by the time that day comes.

    Anyway, that's another discussion completely.

  • If it happens with all your sprites, then maybe you should update your graphics drivers.

If it's just that one sprite, try saving it out of Photoshop again.

I use PhotoShop CS4, and I have no problems.

If you still have problems, attach the PSD file here and I'll take a look at it.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • When I first started using Construct, I tried using TGAs which caused some problems (can't remember exactly what).

Now I use PNGs exclusively for Construct without any problems at all, so that's what I'd suggest you try.

If you still have problems, we'd need to know a bit more, like what software you're using to create your graphics and what export settings you're using.

  • ......................

Hmm, we used to have a "Deadeye" around here once.

I don't know what happened to him.

He just stopped posting a long time ago.

  • Kinect definitely lives up to the hype.

It's a great bit of kit, and is definitely worth having.

The only problem is that there isn't really any game that takes full advantage of it yet.

And with Sony and Microsoft going down the Nintendo path of "dumb everything down for a bigger target audience", who knows whether we'll see any real decent games using it.

Not everyone needs fitness games because they're overweight or simple games because they're 6 years old, lol.

Maybe getting it to work with Construct would enable us to give people games that are worth playing with Kinect.

  • I think the way Notch approached water/lava in MineCraft doesn't require a lot of CPU, as he didn't go for ultra-realistic.

He has source blocks that water/lava can flow from, with a maximum distance of 8 squares from the source block.

If you have MineCraft, put a source block near the edge of the terrain, and you'll see that there is no limit to the drop, and that it either continues the 8 count or restarts it when it hits land (I forget which).

Also, it doesn't update every tick.

    Far from it.

Water seems to update a few times a second when it's spreading, and lava seems to update every few seconds.

So it's not down to masses of computations, but more down to clever logic with timed updates.

And of course, you only need to update the flow of a source block if it's surrounding terrain changes.

It shouldn't be too difficult to get it working in 2D, but will probably take quite a bit of tweaking when in place (as Notch had to).

  • and without any evidence, "lives in danger" just sounds like the line delivered by the governments who are scared stiff.

Well, considering that my post supported the WikiLeaks site, and all the embarrassment it causes those who are up to no good, it's strange that you should hook on to the one thing that I think WikiLeaks has got wrong.

You almost make it sound like I don't support the whistle-blowing.

I even had to check my post again, in case I'd worded it wrong and given that impression.

    Very strange Ash.

And are you really saying that locations of previously unknown military bases or private conversations concerning things like North Korea aren't going to be dangerous?

    That's just naive.

Freedom of speech is one thing, but it can never be absolute.

Are you happy with people reading every conversation you've had in the last week? lol
