  • Hi there,

Any one else have issues with closing an app?

All I'm telling it to do is On Pressing 'Escape' - Close Application.

    But it does nothing.

    I'm using 0.99.97

  • PixelRebirth, I'm having the exact same problem.

  • Awesome! All of these replies are helpful, thanks!

I think I'll give spritefont a go first, looks like it might be handy for a number of things.

    Thanks again everyone!

  • Sorry for the fairly noobish question here, but whats the best way to make a counter with sprites rather than a font?

I seem to recall MMF having a counter object that you could load your sprites into. anything like that in construct?

    Thanks heaps

  • That's exactly what I had in mind.

    Thanks so much.

  • Hi everyone,

I have an idea for a game, but I'm not sure how I would pull off a certain aspect of the concept.

I need to be able to shoot a physics object, in this case a box, at another physics object and have it stick.

For example shooting the box at a wall that is hinged at the bottom, the box would stick, and weigh down the wall, pulling it down into a bridge.

I can't currently wrap my brain around it at all, so if anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be great.

    Thanks heaps

  • Is there a way I can change my email address on these forums?

I keep getting notifications to my old address. And It doesn't allow forwarding to my new address.

    Thanks

  • Great link, nice to see all that info in one place.

  • The best way is to find an animation school and do everything you can to get enrolled.

While you're still in high school, I would suggest drawing every chance you can.

Also, get some books on animation. I'd especially recommend Cartoon Animation by Preston Blair and Character Animation Crash Course! by Eric Goldberg. Both can be found at amazon.com

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that because you might want to work in CG animation, that you don't need to know how to draw. It's extremely important to learn how to make something look good on paper, before you can make it look good in a computer.

Also, I'd suggest getting a copy of anime studio, adobe flash or some other animation program. You can really learn a lot just by experimenting yourself.

    Hope that helps

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Awesome.

    Thanks for that.

I'll have a play with that this evening.

  • Hi,

Is there a way to have the user be able to browse the files on their computer?

I basically want the user to be able to choose a file from their drive to use in an app. It's easy enough to have them type a path in, but I'd much rather they could browse for the file.

    Thanks for your help

  • Awesome, thanks so much. Works like a charm.

I have a feeling this is really going to come in handy for future stuff.
