  • Don't hate the ribbon people. The ribbon is your friend. Embrace the ribbon ... or just hide it. Maybe a full-out good old-fashioned menu for all the people who don't like the ribbon. They would duplicate each others functionality and you could choose to display either one or both.

The abillity to create iso games easily.

    Yes please!

I'm surprised more people haven't asked for full 3D support. Developing a 3D game is far too much work for me, but maybe someone else wants it.

AI behaviour? - This can be a distant consideration, but maybe creating an AI behaviour that performs simple tasks as chase down a character or try to avoid a character once it's approaching? Probably won't work since it's an abstract concept but it can be at least considered.

I really like the idea of more built-in AI support. I think this can be one of the toughest aspects of game development.

    zooming out of event sheets

    (ctrl+wheel)

Maybe something like MS Paint does it. Ctl + Pg Dn would zoom you out two or three wheel clicks and Ctl + Pg Up could move you back in to 100% zoom. I'd like to see something like that for zooming in/out of layouts too.

    * A new and powerful bone editor.

    ...

    * Collision groups (an object could be in more than one group, to collide, two objects would need to be in the same group)

    * Groups of layers (in order to allow us to apply effects on more than one layer)

I think the bone behavior is brilliant and unique. It's a great part of Construct. But maybe there could be a few built-in movements like walk, run and jump for a "standard humaniod." (i.e. shoulders, elbows, hips and knees) These could be edited for custom movements (maybe adding a tail or wrists and ankles) or could be used as is.

Also, I really like your two grouping ideas ShadF.

  • development will go as quickly as your understanding goes.

    Agreed.

The framework Construct provides will greatly speed development versus strictly using a programming language. If you need more flexibility you can access the benefits of a written programming language (Python) by developing plug-ins.

Also, 16-bit style 2D games are well within the scope of what Construct was designed for. I think you'll find that Construct won't be limiting you for these types of games. Instead, you'll likely be using a limited set of what Construct can do.

  • Awesome!

  • [quote:35w6jqmt]CONSTRUCT had revolutionized the world of open source 2D game creation, by providing easy drag-and-drop kind of interface for producing complex game logic, all without writing codes and scripts.

    Point devs!

  • Link didn't work for me. Was this plugin abandoned?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Oh, and a vignette from jeffro11:

    Haven't tested this one.

  • Here's a scanlines one that madster released:

Not quite the same effect though.

  • Wow, this sounds great! I might have to get a bluetooth adapter just to try this. (I know, I'm probably the only one that has a Wiimote and not a bluetooth adapter. )

Is v1.03 the final version then?

  • A few other UI tweaks I'd like to see and one for the installer:

When clicking on objects in the Object bar it would be nice if we could rename the object with two slow clicks (similar to the way you can rename a folder/file in Windows by clicking its icon a second time).

When entering properties in the properties bar such as X, Y, Width, Height ... it would be nice if hitting Enter took the cursor down to the next line and highlighted it. For example, in the GhostShooter tutorial you set the background to X=0, Y=0, Width=1200, Height=1200. It would be nice if this could be accomplished with by typing "0 <Enter> 0 <Enter> 1200 <Enter> 1200 <Enter>".

It would be nice to have a note in the installer that says something like this:

[quote:q86hlgaf]Installation of Construct is complete. Installer will continue to allow you to install two required elements for Construct:

    1) Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable

    2) Microsoft DirectX

If you have previously Construct on this machine you may skip the installation of these two elements.

  • 2)A more complex cutscene that will actually move the camera away from the player to a certain event that will affect the stage. Like a rock falling into the entrance, blocking it.

    You might want to try

New Action -> System -> Display -> Set Zoom

this will allow you to "zoom the camera" in and out.

  • Isn't that artwork from an old thread? This is the closest I could find:

    http://www.scirra.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2312&hilit=create+style

But I'm sure there's another thread from around that time that has the artwork David used in his level editor. In fact, when I saw the Braid screenshot I first thought that it was something someone made from David's artwork.

Anywho ... here's the vid he posted on the above linked thread.
