  • I'm getting excited already

    HURRY UP xD

  • I can't say I've ever had that happen to me, mainly because I use windowed mode for every game when I'm still testing it.

  • There is some Joomla tool that is nominated as the best tool for developers. I was like "WTF has that to do with development?".

Yeah, that's a bit suss anyway... when I was on the nominations page that thing was spammed for nominations at 0.2 second intervals for as many times as I cared to refresh the page. I have a feeling there was some auto bot voting thing going on there since there was like 5 votes per second on it.

Anyway, I hope construct wins. I nominated it for best project overall, best development project, and best project for gamers... at least it got in there somewhere!

  • I don't think many people have played around with the application side of Construct, apart from maybe me. Even I haven't really done all that much with it apart from creating some very basic data storage fields, mainly as a proof of concept.

Unfortunately, I don't think I even used the listbox object at any stage... so I'm afraid I won't be much help, sorry.

Maybe one of the dev's can shed some light on this?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I've got a rather ambitious game in mind. We're generally suggested to "wait until version 1.0 before trying something big". But I was wondering if the current version is stable enough to start with? Anything I should try to avoid or work around for now?

Oh, and does Construct support scripting?

Yo Muz, long time no see brother

Good to see you around here again. To answer your question, yes, the current builds are pretty good, but as Davioware suggested you should look at 0.98.9 if you want a solid build.

The next build for the 0.99 series shouldn't be far away, and there are some substantial bug fixes in there that should (hopefully) give us our next stable build.

Get started mang, I want to see what you can whip up with this bad boy.

  • you can't get anymore information on it, it's not out yet. Asking rich when you see him online is pretty much the only option.

This. All of it... or apply for a moderator position and then you can see the thread about it... but he's still busy with school stuff etc to be working on it right now.

Jump on chat or something, you may be lucky to catch him there sometimes.

  • Hi, and welcome to the boards!

OK first off, a free texture maker? I'm not really sure, but I would suggest checking the tools and resources section of the boards. You can find it HERE

Secondly, I think your biggest problem... well, only problem with that PC specification, is the video accelerator. I know it's a laptop, so you can't exactly change/upgrade it... but it is going to really limmit the games you can play on it.

What kind of games do you like? RPG? RTS? FPS? It's hard to recommend something when you don't know what the person likes...

I would recommend something like Red Alert 3 myself... but then I'm not sure if your video card is compatible with it from memory. If you would prefer an older game, you can't beat Sacred if you like the RPG games, or Half Life 2 if you prefer FPS games... the online play for HL2 is still booming and lots of people play it!

Good luck, I hope that helps a little bit at least.

  • Haha yes, hopefully to answer your questions:

You play the part of Alex Mercer, who gets transformed into this... thing. He has no memory of how it happened, and wants to find out who did it to him. You get dumped in the middle of a three way war between the human military, the mutant regime, and yourself. You can shape shift into many forms which you unlock as the game progresses, then "purchase" through a points (EP) system. You rack up EP through doing missions, going on rampages and surviving, or locating "landmark" items and "hints" throughout the island of Manhattan.

You play the ultimate neutrality in character design, where you kill EVERYTHING around you, good or bad. You "consume" your victims to absorb their soul/essence in order to heal yourself, take their memories, gain their skills, or shape shift into them!

For awhile I tried not to kill the innocent people, but they get in your way ALL THE TIME! After awhile, you just go berserk and and take down anything stupid enough to come near you... though there are multiple ways of playing the game. You can go for the subtle "blend in with the crowd" method, using your "stealth consume" ability to transform in public undetected, or go balls-out and unleash every ounce of killing power you posses in order to complete your objective. I tend to mix it up a little depending on the mission, but generally I go the KILL EVERYTHING method as it is more FUN!

Yes the game is gory, and yes it is like GTA in the sense of the free-roaming... but that's about where the similarities stop.

All in all, I would recommend this if you are hunting for a game to play. IMO it's probably one of the best, if not THE best game out at the moment in terms of playability, graphics, storyline, ingenuity, and intuitiveness. It does suffer from a mild repetition syndrome as do most games these days, but the missions are varied enough to keep to going, and you can always just do a bit of free-roam to cool off, go nuts, or search for landmarks etc.

    I'd give it a solid 9.5/10 (better than Gamespot's 8.5/10)!
