  • If you haven't seen this game, then you can watch a video of my giving it a whirl below.

If you have seen the game, watch the damn video anyway! xD

NOTE: (If you click on it within the first 30 mins or so of this post being here, you will only get to see the low definition version as YouTube is still processing the high quality video stream)

  • Hello my name is Gabe and I am not so good with computers.

I am training to be an animator (for movies) but I enjoy making games in my free time, even if I am not very good at it. My brother and dad are both programmers, but I just can't get the hang of code because I am bad with numbers! I grew up with click n' play and mmf, though so I am able to use those. I read that my favorite MMF developer Konjak, had switched to using Construct, and so I decided to check it out. The skeleton movement in particular appealed to me because it would make making bosses a lot easier.

I am still learning Construct and havin some problems but I'm doin my best.

    Welcome to the boards

Sing out if you need any help, that's what we are here for!

  • Huh hey wow who let real girls in here? xD

Nah just kidding, welcome to the boards! Slick game for a first project... kinda has a few bugs in it, but nothing too serious. Good luck with improving on it, kinda reminds me of alien breed or something from the old days. Don't forget if you get stuck and need help there are plenty of experienced people here that will gladly lend a hand I'm sure.

  • Hahaha what the **** xD

  • Yeah, the auto-die was the result of construct choking up every time I tried to tell it to restart the level. I got fed up and decided to take the easy way out.

Huh? You should be able to just tell it to jump to a layout... if that's not working then supply a cap so someone can check it out, or try to reproduce it in a clean cap and submit to the bug tracker.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I just want my pet bot that spams about WoWgold and ***** extensions...

  • It would be really cool, but AFAIK it's PhysX powered which is only supported by the nVidia GeForce 8 series and up, which generally are high end, expensive gamer cards.

You can buy a GeForce 8 series card capable of PhysX for under $100... it's not that unrealistic to support PhysX in the future, seeing as most people will have support for it within 12 months if not now. And, if you don't have support for it, then don't create 50,000 objects on your screen, or go spend $50 (by then) and welcome to this decade of computing.

There are already 2 series of cards beyond the GF8XXX series, including the 9xxx and 2xx cards. I think you can get a GF8400 for like $35 from MSY Computers :/

  • It didn't work. You can't authorise users into a new group automatically, it'd have to be by hand. It ended up with some bots slipping through.

Yeah, we did it by hand... new users would be checked daily and added to the authorised users list manually...

I'll put my hand up for the job if it means we don't have anyone complaining about the "are you human" test.

Also, the standard user group (the one that everyone will be in when they sign up, bots included) should have the ability to at least PM so they can PM a mod for approval.

And... why do I make you laugh? I am so serious? xD

    ~Sol

  • lol MMF isn't finished... it's a working alpha of construct... hahaha. The reason it doesn't crash as much, is because its so basic and featureless there's not much to go wrong xD

    ~Sol

  • Crash as well :/

  • I just ran a physics example here:

And hinges seem to be okay.. could you reproduce the physics errors in new .cap files?

It's happening in Tonks, which is rather complex... so, chances of reproducing in a clean cap is not going to be easy. It all seems to be tied to the first event though... START OF LAYOUT > MAKE HINGES ETC.

I'm not really sure what is going on exactly, since the treads are not even hinging, and the wheels completely vanish, when at start of layout they are meant to move to the players x.y position for each wheel then hinge.

If you want to take a look at the cap, you can get it here:

    TONKS

In the meantime, I guess I'll try to make it happen on a clean cap or something. :/

    *EDIT*

It appears that, if you set a physics objects X or Y position via events, then try to hinge it, it breaks... this never used to be a problem before. If I turn off the random force position for the tank chassis, the wheels stick, but the treads still break since they are coded to "move to position" then "hinge".

Hope that at least helps to find a solution.

    *EDIT AGAIN*

It also seems if you spawn (create object at x.y) a physics object at specific X and Y coordinates, and try to hinge it, it also fails to work properly...

It all seems to come back to setting X and Y coordinates for physics objects in one way or another, regardless of whether it is "set position to" or "create object at".

Hope that helps a little more...

Ill still try to make a cap demonstrating it so I can upload to the tracker, unless that's enough info to work out what's going wrong.

    ~Sol

  • That won't be for a while I wouldn't think .

Jason can move everything around then, cus I ain't doin it -_-

    Fair warning.
