  • Update! (good news)

I just re-checked MIME Types on my web server and added:

    text/cache-manifest > .appcache

NOW! I have sound when I open my C2 created apps with IE on W8.1

I will investigate this further tomorrow but it looks as if the issue is resolved.

If anyone has a little time to open one of the above links with IE it would be great to know how the play pads performed.

I am preloading the sounds on both apps.

    Thank YOU,

    v

I just checked directory via FTP and both formats are in the media dir, ogg and m4p.

Owner and group permissions are identical for ogg and m4p.

How did you conclude that the m4p sound files would be missing? Maybe that would help me to start with tracking down the issue.

The apps which are not producing sound in Safari and IE are:

  • Well, it looks as if I can not have sound on iE.

My host does have m4a set up already so there is nothing they can do.

I just loaded my app on a Microsoft Surface and there was no sound.

On an Apply iPad, the UI only loads partially and there is no sound.

Maybe it's time to think about standalone versions.

On a side note. MS Surface surprised me by loading my flash based apps without a hiccup.

If that is the case, I might as well offer Flash and HTML5 versions for the time being.

What I found puzzeling was that Steve Jobs did away with Flash to tout HTML5 but .... anyway, not impressed.

If anyone has come across anything that would solve some of these issues, I'd love to hear about it.

    Cheers,

    V

    Hi,

think of a sprite as if it were a TV.

Every time you change the channel, you get to see a new pictures (story or movie etc...)

Just make a sprite and fill it with a red colour.

Then add a frame (Animation window) and fill that frame with blue.

You can add a third frame and fill that with green.

    Then play your app.

You should see the colours flicker and then stop.

There are a few ways to manipulate "how" that animation plays but for the purpose of making a C2 game,

you want to read up on "set frame"

So every time you click on "something" you can display any frame of the sprite. Just specify the number.

The first frame has the number 0, the second frame is 1 and so forth.

Just try it. You will figure it out in no time.

  • Two choices:

Delete layers or what ever you have added that exceeds the restrictions of the free version.

Or, simply buy a license and move on. You should be able to re-coup that money if you release a game or two.

My 2 cents worth of input,

    V

As Beaverlicious suggested, WordPress is very popular and an ok choice.

I would also recommend Twitter Bootstrap.

The advantage of that framework is that you won't get a hundreds of hacking attempts a day and if you have to or want to switch to a different host down the road, you just copy all the files and folders in your FTP root dir and ... move on.

With WordPress, moving to a new host is possible but very time consuming.

    Chiao for now,

  • Hello Ragevortex,

I think you have discovered all there is to (discover).

Sending an email would require that the app (your app) can open executable files on the host which is a no no.

Come to think of it, if there was an app that can sent automated email ... it would be a nightmare and then some. Those are usually referred to as "virus".

I know that you have a legit reason to do so but the browser will prevent that from happening.

    Maybe I'm wrong,

  • OK, my webhost has .m4a MIME Type set already but still, no sound in Safari (on Mac) and IE (W8.1 / W7)

    What else could it be?

  • I composed a cool song the other day and I called it "Christmas time is here again".

I just need to find someone to record it (sing it) and then hope that Celine Dion hears it.

Hmmmm, I should put a disclaimer at the bottom that "famous people" are not allowed to mess with this app!!!! LOL

  • Is anyone with bluehost?

I just finished talking to them and they gave me a link with instructions on how to set up MIME Types so it looks as if it was possible.

Since they are quite big, there should be a few people here who host with them.

It would help me a lot of know that I will be ok before I make the decision to move host which is a lot of work. - Thanks

  • Hello,

I just ended a chat with my web host (I have a business package with a US hosting firm) and they didn't know what I was talking about, insisting that if my game doesn't produce sound in IE then there is a problem with my "code".

I've made them aware of the issue and how often it is discussed here to which the tech responded with "stuff he found on google".

I am itching to move to bluehost or back to hostgator but I'd like to know if anyone can suggest a good host that lets me run my C2 created apps without hassles.

    Thanks, - V

P.S. If this can be fixed with an entry in the .htaccess file then please tell me how?

  • BAD NEWS, I'm working on a "grown-up" version with real notes and 8 bars of melody to compose (twice as much as now).

Maybe send me your IP address so that I can ban you .... for a while? LOL

P.S. If you composed something nice, make some words and record it.

Yikes, something just came to mind.

Check out this page (still needs Adobe Flash because I haven't brought it over to C2 yet)

    http://littlecomposers.com/easy-play-notes.html

There is a youtube video if you need it. This is more for older "people" and you might actually like it better.

The idea is to extend the lyrics from

    Mommy can you tell me

... to what ever else you want to add.

Thank you for posting your details. On my Samsung Note3, the lag is the same as you've experienced.

For sone weird reason, the menu is not really working well on my friend's iPhone (the LittleComposers.com site menu) so I have a hard time loading the file.

But in a few days, all will be well (me thinks).

I can't wait to see what the young ones will come up with? (the target audience for the Little Composers site is age 3 - 6ish).

  • Nice to see it finally complete!

Addicting, as always. Each time you post a new version I lose a few minutes playing it, heh.

It is even addicting for me. I still find myself clicking way more than I should just to see what pops up.

Actually, that was just a little "side app". The real monster is here: http://littlecomposers.com:8080/apps/cccm/make-a-composition.html

Let me know how many minutes this app will take from you? Just kidding
