• I know, my chances to be heard by Tom are near zero, but please...

Am I really the only one who thinks this is ugly beyond imagination and confusing? The strong signal colors hurt my eyes (just try to have a look at the quick reply for longer than 1 second...), the font size is way to large even when set smaller. It all is just unattractive.

Compare it with this one:

Clean, clear, well-structured, eye-relaxing, font style and size just right. Why does it need to be so different from a good working layout?

• Are the private messages lost, or part of the work that will be done? I'm sure there was a message I hadn't answered yet, but access to pms is prohibited

• The website is up again! Since the competitions timeframe was extended until February 24 you should expect that site to break down again at that day

The top three will be nominated at or around March 20, so there's plenty of time for you to help me

How you can help? I'll quote myself:

I decided to take the risk and submitted both tracks. You can see them here (melancholic mix) and here (extreme mix)

On those Bleeding Fingers pages you can vote, like, dislike and comment. Would you do that?

rekjl Thank you very much for your comment! If you still want to help: See above

• I was afraid that this would happen and therefore submitted my songs quite early. When I was doing it I could see that about 4-5 submissions were made per second. And the rush was only just beginning^^

I'm sure the site is down due to the enormous participation (the last allowed day just started). I will have a look tomorrow and inform when the site is up again.

• Anyone?

• Thanks for taking the time and helping me out!

What's your favourite?fdv@AnD4D You see, that's the problem. I'm indecisive. I really like both. I started with the melacholic mix, wanted to keep close to the original, but bring in a more sad feel (which is very hard when trying to keep the original, written in D major. major = positive ). It was the title, destiny's door. In my understanding, destiny always has two sides: It can bring you the luckiest day in your life - or the saddest tragedy.

When I was done with it, I couldn't forget that simple sentence: "We?re looking for originality, curveballs and adventurous amphonics."

I started thinking that I may have been too conventional. How original, how adventurous is the melancholic mix? So I went back to start and freed me from any conventional thinking. I started with the wobbling bass line, created from a simple fm synth sound, heavily edited with diversionFX. Then I took the trumpet stem from the original, again crunching it through diversionFX. Another day went into the glitch editing of the solo voice stem. No boundaries, I said to myself, go as wild as you can.

And there I am: two totally different compositions, both with much of myself in them. I just love them both, like a mother loves her children, no matter what.

Good luck, let us know how it goes :)@Blacksmith I will. But to be honest, I don't expect to come far. I'm more interested in giving the best I can. I want to lay back and follow the contest with the thinking that whatever happens it's not that I'm bad. Others just are better.

Extreme seemed to encircle my headI'm surprised. Are there no glitch fans among us scirrans?

Please keep on helping by voting! Thank you

• Thank you for helping me out shinkan, and also thanks to and4d, the comments help me too.

Any more people willing to help? (It's only 2 days, so I have to rush it, sorry)

• Hi everybody,

I'm sorry for my absence in the last weeks. Part of the reason was a competition for composers that I entered; the "Beeding Fingers Contest".

And that's why I need your help. I made two totally different compositions from the original, and now I just can't decide which one to prefer. I read in the rules that one may submit more than one composition. But in my thinking, if you submit 2 bad compositions, you have no chance, and if you submit one good and one horrible composition, you could also reduce your chances.

Please take the time for the following:

1. Listen to the original by Hans Zimmer
2. Read this pragraph from the contest page: "Calling all composers! This original theme called "Destiny's Door" created exclusively for this contest by Mr. Zimmer himself is yours to reimagine, replay, recompose or revise to your heart?s content. Below you?ll find a link to the theme plus everything you need to get the creative juices flowing. We?re looking for originality, curveballs and adventurous amphonics. "
3. Listen to my compositions: Destiny's Door (melancholic mix) Destiny's Door (extreme mix)
4. Vote in this poll for one, both or none of them

All of the above only valid until February 19, the last day to enter the competition! So just make it right now ;)

Thank you so much for helping me!

Don't forget to prepare your developing environment. And coffee. The competition starts soon (less than 2 weeks)!

• Thread updated with part 3!

• Introduction (part 3)

Pirin Astrobiology Institute, Nebraska.

Noon.

The canteen was filled with chatter. Pirin kissed the cup of coffee and lounged back on his chair.

"Any new findings?"

His vis-a-vis looked up from his meal. Dr. Raymond Balford was a quantum physicist and the team leader on this project. Two weeks had gone since he was called.

"The structure could allow for a storage system. But if it's one, it's sophisticated. There were tests storing an image for up to one minute. It uses external equipment around the crystal. Even if I assume a minification: A system that is enclosed by the crystal is far from our competencies."

Pirin leaned forward.

"Ray, the first step can't be to recreate that technology. We should start with accessing the information!"

"And that's the next problem. We might find a way. But how do you read a book if you never learned the language it's written in? What format will the information have? A binary system? I doubt that such a technology uses such a simple code. However, since this seems to be a quantum device, it could be qubits we're talking about."

"I agree. Let's concentrate on this theory. We'll assume a quantum device storing qubits. Let's find a way to access them!"

• Blacksmith

You'll love it: lots of sounds and music involved

Colludium

(very fitting latin avatar name!) Yes, but I don't dare to call it so. Also, instead of so many "here's the theme now go", I take the time to develop a story, working hard on assets (paticipants of "A blossom tale" can tell it) and - my events are family compatible, since they allow one or two weeks, depending on complexity
