  • Theme has been announced, and my above post has been updated.

  • Hey all, I'm back with another quick contest from Game Jolt. I know from experience that Construct is a great tool when it comes to whipping little games together for short contests like this one, so hopefully some of you will have fun with this.

Developers will have from July 1, 2010 - July 7, 2010 EST to develop and submit their entries.

The theme is Indie Game Demake; choose one of your favourite indie games and make the version that should have come before the real game.

All the rules, prize details, and other information you need to know before working on your entries can be found in the official contest post here.

Hope to see some entries from y'all!

Hello my fellow Construct-ors (Ohoho...), we've got another game-making contest going on over at Game Jolt right now, and the theme is "rogue".

When people hear the word "rogue", most seem to think of RPG's and roguelikes, but we're encouraging all that enter to use the word and/or its definition in any way they like for their contest entries. If anyone wants to make the next Dwarf Fortress, hey, be our guest, but any genre is more than welcome.

The contest will run for two weeks (it will end the midnight between January 24 and January the 25 Eastern US Time).

All the rules and information can be found here.

  • Hey all, I wanted to make sure my Construct comrades weren't left out here, 'cause I think some of you may enjoy this. Get ready for my very copy/paste announcement below! Haha.

The competition has officially started (November 1, 2009 Eastern Standard Time US)! It will be running for just one week this time.

    The theme is Minimal.

Three winners will be chosen. All three will be featured on the front page of the site. The first place winner will win a free single game of their choosing from Steam (no packs)! All contestants will also receive a Bloody Good Time -- courtesy of Game Jolt.

All the info you need to know (important rules and answers to often asked questions) regarding this competition can be found in the first post here: Click!

That about sums things up. Hope to see some of you there!

  • Thanks again everyone, glad you all liked it!

Pretty much just made this for fun, 'cause the idea popped into my head out of nowhere, and I couldn't think about anything else, so I had to get it out of my brain as quick as I could.

Saying anything else about this would probably kind of spoil it since the game's so short, but just so you know, there's nothing NSFW or anything in this, so enjoy.

Download here, or play it right now with Game Jolt's Quick Play feature here.

    Controls:

    Right arrow key = Continue/Move

    X = Jump

    Escape = Quit

R (on ending screen) = Restart

F4 (on blue beginning credits screen) = Fullscreen

Any ratings on my game on Game Jolt will be much appreciated!

Oh, and I have some other projects coming along, so hopefully I'll have something else to show... Soonish...

  • that 30 second unskippable 'intro' had me very close to pressing esc before even playing the game. only nerves of steel made me able to endure it two more times.

Well, there was a reason for it, but my games certainly aren't for everyone (never expected anyone to like them actually). You might want to avoid my creations in future though, 'cause I don't think you're going to like them very much. Thanks for being patient enough to try it out at least!

Okay, version 1.01 is up and ready for action. You can download it here: Click me!

    Additions:

    • In-game Cursor
    • Background Music (Thanks Father of Syn!)
    • Title Screen

    Changes:

    • Flapping sound is less annoying now.
    • The "R" key only becomes active after the player's score fades in now, so the glitch is gone. (Thanks Deadeye!)
    • Flapping sound no longer occurs after the bird is already dead.
    • Background birds now fly in random directions instead of flying toward the center of the playing field every time.

    I think that's everything...

  • Thanks David.

  • It's the car behavior (first time I've tried it out). I just changed the settings until I liked it.

  • ... Deadeye, you've done it again. Thanks so much for showing me how to get around that problem!

  • Yeah, always the same number of rocks. I wanted it to be kind of a casual arcade game, not stressful to play, you know? One of my friends played till the rocks became bigger than the game window size (she also holds the current record of 5365 points... she's crazy).

It's pretty much official now that I'll be making an updated version. I'm planning on reducing the volume of the flapping sound (someone complained about it being too loud), replacing the pointer with something that fits in with the game better, adding a nice title screen with some of my signature vector art style, and Father of Syn is working on some sort of ambient random music/background-noise for me.

  • OMG... I can't believe I forgot about the cursor... Thanks so much for pointing that out (not an intentional pun LOL), and thanks for the compliments too!
