  • Also, if you'd like to create "Objects" in the sense that Object Oriented Programming uses the word (where you can assign functions and even other objects to an object) then in Construct try putting everything into a container and think of that as your "Class".

  • Well you at least demonstrated that Construct is not just a toy and that it is capable of producing quality games. You also lend Construct some street cred (or something, I don't know I'm just trying to sound hip) by showing that there are quality game developers who know what they're doing who have chosen to go with Construct. Very good publicity.

  • Ah, sorry admins. I didn't see that when I searched the tracker.

  • These are great! I love it when people post awesome art.

  • Hmm, I can't get the light to shine on the right side of his face.

  • Does this all work with the bone movement behavior?

i.e. you're player's walking animation is controlled by bone movement and you use the technique mentioned above to change the player's arm.

I guess I'm asking if a bone can have multiple animation frames. Sorry, I would try this myself but the .cap I would use is involved in a bug report that doesn't allow me to add bones to the body sprite.

  • Is there any way you can get light to reflect off a surface?

  • I am really looking forward to seeing this progress. Sorry I don't have any time or talent to offer.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I actually had someone in mind until the flying bit. Sorry.

  • Yes! I've been avoiding this thread like the plague because I figured at 25 I'd be an old man.

And hey, don't worry Ethan that receding hairline only makes you look more mature. That's what I tell myself anyway.

  • I'm wondering what kind of things increase the size of a .cap file. How do I keep an eye on my .cap size? Okay so file size probably isn't usually the game programmer's top priority. But there's no point in being unnecessarily wasteful. For instance:

If I import graphics into Construct as bitmaps is it going to be any different than importing them as png or does construct convert them anyway?

Maybe there could be some way to locate what objects are causing a large file size. When you right click the object and choose "Object Information" maybe the size (in kb) that the object contributes to the .cap could be listed.

By the way, this all came about because I was posting a bug report and I couldn't get the .cap under the file size limit. I stripped out nearly all of the graphics and deleted several objects that weren't pertinent to the bug but I couldn't quite get down to the limit. (I think the limit was like 256 kb. Can anyone verify?)

  • Okay, I was trying to add a new sprite with bone behavior to animate freeman's movement. But when I tried adding a bone Construct crashed. Here's the .cap, I already submitted the bug report.

  • Very nice effect. I added some manual rotation controls.

  • That looks great pikus. This is a great use of 3d effects in a way that's perfect for a Construct game.

Thanks for sharing the art. It is very instructional. I've never drawn game art before, let alone put it all together to make a world. I'll definitely see if I can recreate your preview.

  • Thanks for the vid. Very nice.
