  • Thanks for finding the solution! I didn't even think to try that! I guess when you get hung up on trying to find a complex solution there's always a simple one that works!

Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you found it useful!

  • Hello! Apologies for the delay in replying.

The early version of this actually did have a pause function that worked in the way you described, but it was really buggy if it was paused when the ball was in contact with anything. So unfortunately I had to remove it so I could finish the template. However I do think it would be possible to pause like that, perhaps I was missing something when I made it! I may come back to it in the future but unfortunately my time is being spent on other projects right now.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • Hello and sorry for the delay in replying, unfortunately my work life far exceeds my Construct 2 life! Thank you for the questions.

At current the timer will not continue if you close it. Mostly because I do not know how to implement that! Maybe someone will be able to here.

I have not added different formats for the timer, but it should be relatively easy to do with some event changes.

I know that this timer is missing a lot of features that might be considered standard on many apps, but hopefully it still qualifies as a 'basic timer template', as I simply don't see many people using C2 for things that aren't games I thought I'd make a little something!

    Thank you for your feedback!

  • Basic Interval Timer — Now for sale in the Scirra Store!

    https://www.scirra.com/store/royalty-free-game-templates/basic-interval-timer-2122

<p>Timers are often used in games, both mobile and desktop, and games made in Construct 2 are no different. This template is a basic example of how you can have the user enter a timer length and have it tick down visually on screen until it expires.</p><p>This template also highlights the versatility of Construct 2, and shows how this excellent development tool can be used to create a wide range of apps, not just games. </p><p>This template features :</p>

    • Desktop mouse and mobile touch controls
    • Ability to create up to 6 intervals of different lengths
    • Creation of a numpad that allows you to enter in numbers for timer values
    • Create a set of intervals and loop them up to 10 times
    • Sound effects when an interval or set of intervals end

<p>This is a fully commented .capx template that can be used to create a boss battle for a scrolling shooter. </p><p>There are plenty of guides and templates out there for games that have the player fighting waves of small enemies in scrolling shooters, but few that have the player taking on a larger boss battle. So I decided to make one myself! </p><p>Features include :</p>

    • Multiple 'phases' for the boss fight that get harder as the player progresses
    • Shooting patterns for the boss to cycle through and weakpoints on the boss sprite for the player to target
    • Touch controls for mobile and mouse/keyboard controls for desktop
    • Sound effects
    • A 'high score' in the form of tracking and displaying player deaths after the boss is defeated.

<p>Sound assets are either from the free Sound FX pack by GameBurp or Sheekys sound collection. The player ship sprite is from Kenny's game assets pack.</p><p>You can play the template here : dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/245987915/BossBattle/index.html . Controls are either mobile joysticks or WASD/Arrow keys to move, Space/Mouse to fire.</p><p>Any questions, comments or problems, please contact me immediately.</p>

  • As subject title. Uploading a new version of assets on either Chrome or Internet Explorer results in a 404 as soon as the upload is completed.

I was able to get around this using a web URL but I wanted to post the issue regardless so Scirra is aware.

  • I really like this, it is certainly an original idea!

  • There's a few ways of handling this depending on the specific behaviour you're after. Do you want the player to be able to move freely inside the circle, or only around the outside of the circle?

If the player can move freely within the circle its quite simple, use this event, just make sure to doublecheck the image point of the player character and collision polygon of the circle.

If you want to have the player only able to move around the outer edge, I would create a second smaller and invisible circle sprite, and place it inside the first circle, again making sure the collision polygon fits, and edit the event like this :

    Hope that helps!

EDIT : For some odd reason the forum doesn't like my images, put links to them in instead.
