  • I work 10 + hours a day on my XP-Pen Artist22E graphics tablet amazon.com/dp/B01M9EURM1 . I've been using graphics tablets for over 8 years. I absolutely need one because i paint/draw for a living and these days people need things done fast soo digital is the way to go.

I've been using XP-Pen tablets for all this time. I wouldnt recommend ANY other brand but wacom for graphics tablets. They are the best. I currently use a Medium size XP-Pen Artist22E .

For just scribbling notes and doing minor photo touch ups I would recommend either a Small XP-Pen Star05 ( which cost about 70$ Canadian) more or less.

    Hi jieshi

can I ask what spec computer you are using with XP-Pen Artist22E.

    What is the lag like,

and what software you are using?

As per above. I think this is a pretty short sighted limitation.

It means that new suggestions will have less access to votes, if any, once the general user base has used up their votes. And due to the nature of software development those votes will remain "locked" and thus useless for months , even years. It also means users are less likely to return as they know they have no votes left.

(It is not as if users will keep re-visiting to shift around their votes).

Would be far better to unlock voting.

And have a max of one vote per user per suggestion.

Then you would really see what people are interested in.

  • I think Ive said it before, but there was a point in my game development were one small feature in C3 literally enabled me to continue game development that in C2 would have been near impossible or at least frustrating enough for me to quit.

That was the point in my project where the number of events became bigger than my ability to remember what those events were doing and where they were.

So the C3 game changer for me is the humble search/find functionality.

The ability to instantly see all the events that use a certain variable, or sprite , or function call etc, even if they are spread across multiple event sheets, is the most useful new tool that C3 offers IMO. Everything else is icing on the cake.

  • This sort of thing is covered extensivly in manual, tutorials, game demos and probably a few hundred posts on this forum. Go have a rummage you should find everything you need.

  • Guys Im just posting here as it looks like not to many visit the suggestions forum except maybe those posting suggestions.

but if you vote on things there they are more likely to get implemented.

Ive just put a couple of things in that are causing me, and maybe you, a little annoyance....

"Please lock the Browser zoom when cursor is over a Layout View Window"

I have lost count of the amount of times I have control + mouse wheeled when in Layout view and zoomed the browser to +-1000% or whatever because I assume i haven't clicked in the layout window first

    https://construct3.ideas.aha.io/ideas/C3-I-449

"Please show, or have an option to show, the bounding box of all objects in a Layout"

I have 30 sprite objects in my layout view that have a blank first frame, or are the same colour as background or text sprite objects that have no text in them until run time but I cant see any of them in the layout. They are all hidden because I cannot see their bounding boxes. Showing collision boxes does not help in many instances and not at all for sprite font boxes.

"Desperately need to see the brush shape and size in the sprite editor"

This should be day 1 feature of the editor.

I have no idea what pixels I am going to effect as I cannot see the brush

(also drawing lags behind the cursor by one pixel please sort)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

    I understand

My point was they need to start seeing a lot of popular, high quality games in HTML/JS to be convinced it is worthwhile for them to do so.

Also it would definitely have to be some sort of custom secure closed implementation as they need to keep the whole browser side of things closed down for games . because if you can use your switch to play high quality games in the browser then why would you bother spending money in the Nintendo store.

The possibility of high quality HTML/JS games scares the hell out of the big game companies.

I mean I can load up my game on my Nvidia shield by just pointing chrome to the webpage and with the tegra hardware (pretty much the same a switch) it plays better than on my PC.

  • I have signed, and I dont wish to rain on anyone's parade

but I dont think such a petition is going to sway any Nintendo decision makers. (very happy to be proven wrong tho)

The best way to get Nintendo, or any other platform holder even considering implementing Construct support,

is to start using Construct to produce the type, and quality, of games that they want on their systems.

They need to see a few games that go massive like Undertail, Guacamole, Binding of Isaac, a Tarreria, etc, coming from Construct engine ( games which Construct could do easily) and lots more games up at the quality level of eg The Last Penelope.

Then they will be calling Scirra...

    So get cracking guys......

  • Sorry it is not mac but I think interesting as possibly same issue.

There was definitely this issue when using Canary on windows (which I was using because of a memory issue in the last version of chrome)

but the pop up issue hasn't transferred into the latest Chrome update on windows. (which has solved the memory issue)

The issue was that any pop up or dialog windows were sized very strangely, (high up, narrow and very wide) and sort of frozen and were unable to be used.

To solve the issue, which had to be solved every time, I had to resize the main editor window, then the popup/dialog windows went to normal.

    Super annoying.

  • Yea performance was really smooth. No janking or slowdown whatsoever.

While Im here having a tea break at work I was wondering....

and tell me to f-off if you like but.....

I think one of the less attractive limitations of the 16bit era was the dpad move and aim control for these sort of games.

and yes you have implemented it pretty perfectly but...

have you considered dual analogue control instead?

I think it works much better in these metroidvainia type games.

Have you played Shadow Complex ? I think it one of the best metroidvania games in recent years. Really really recommend it as you are making this type of game. and I think, due to your AAA graphics, like it or not your game will be competing and be judged at this sort of level. And if I remember it has a dual analogue control which makes the gameplay really smooth.

anyway just throwing it out there....

  • Unless I am doing something wrong (playing on xbox joypad) there is an issue that the player is missing some of the ledge grabs near the start which for me make it hard to progress very early.

I am totally in awe of the graphics and overall design though.

    Utterly STUNNING.

turrican and the sequel are some of my favorite games ever

I can wait to see the upgrades and the ed209 i see in the pic.

    the artwork is AAA.

on a surface pro 4, i5 integrated graphics, the experience was very very smooth no framerate issues at all

Will play more tomorrow need to go to bed now

    But yea.

    Brilliant.

  • Dude,

it is like one extra step to build a debug apk , just drag and drop your cordova file into https://cocoon.io/

and also, if it is just for your kids to play your apps then you have instant preview over lan on any device no building apps necessary

    https://www.scirra.com/tutorials/247/how-to-preview-on-a-local-network

  • The test runs utterly smooth and jank free for me.

Im using a surface pro with crappy integrated graphics.

On both a single monitor and dual monitor set up.

Including moving the tab window from one monitor to the surface screen while running.

note I am using Chrome Canary

  • Haha I had this very same question last year when starting off.

(Such an innocent question that I am still wrestling with to some extent.)

If you are a noob like I was then I recommend really just messing with C3 for a couple of weeks and get familiar with with as many features as possible.

Then , for what you want to do, you need to focus on functions and, I would also say, arrays. Both of which C3 make very easy to use. You can even edit the arrays in the editor now where as previously in C2 you would have to make your own array editor. ( i spent many weeks making an editor in C2 which became 90% defunct over night once the array editor was available in C3.

Then as said, depending on what you want to achieve in your game there would be different ways to do things but for example you will need to run through a set of functions (which could be listed in events or stored in an array) which themselves generate enemies and also set out (or just identify) the way points for the patterns (which could be a set of physical hidden way point objects in a layout (or could be a set of co-ordinates stored in array. )

  • Set the global time scale to 0.

then give one of the menu objects their own timescale.

And use this object's timescale for anything you want moving in the menu.

I'm not sure if that's the official way to do it , but it is they way I have done it and it works fine.

  • I cant find it now but there is a years old Chrome bug thread related to vsync issues when running multiple monitors , especially when they are different types (laptop / desktop) and different brands, which could have very slightly different ideal refresh rates. If I remember correctly the browsers get the refresh rate from the operating system which is based on whatever the display driver deems appropriate for whatever display. So one will be OK but the other janky. It might help to make sure you have the official up to date drivers for your monitors. (Not many people bother with this but it is important for the operating system to know the correct refresh rates and color outputs.)

But basically its a far more complex issue than can be solved by C3 update/runtime alone.

If I find the link I will update.
