  • For each RGB use lerp (a, b, x)

    a is colour 1

    b is colour 2

then set x [0-1] in events based on how you need to move from one colour to another

    (0=colour 1 , 1 = color 2, 0.5 = half between the two etc)

  • Ye I think this is definitely a thing,

Have had exactly the same on a win 7 machine running chrome 68 just now as well as the win 10 machine running 69 earlier.

The layout editor goes blank and the preview screen goes black after 1-2 hours.

So definitely something construct related either directly or in conjunction with my project

I will try with the demo projects this weekend before I raise a bug

But no one else getting ?????

  • Ive been getting this each time ive been working with the last 121b build,

happens approx after about 1 hour. requires restart of Chrome to fix.

there is a "Failed to Initialise WebGL context error" in the console.

just wondering if any of you guys getting ???

    edit

ps maybe something to do with working off line, I was trying to sneak a hour after work at the office and I cant use internet here on the game dev pc.

  • Brilliant.

  • Best way would be to have another variable "speed factor"

then speed = base speed x speed factor

    and

interval for generating blocks is x seconds / speed factor.

then speed and block creation will allways match...

I think... my maths not to great but it sounds right....

  • Yea, I think the issue is related to the fact that you need to sort everything including anything pinned to the ghost body, not just the ghost body and anything you are interacting with / overlapping. There are lots of people on here who have achieved what you are wanting so it is easily doable so don’t stress about it. In my own game literally everything you see on screen (Cyberstorm Devlog) (which is hundreds of items ) is z sorted every single frame and then on top of that all their additive overlays are z sorted on another layer every frame and there dosent seem to be much of a performance impact.

Im at work (ehem just having a little coffee break surfing the construct forum….) but will hopefully have time to look weekend.

Have you checked the Demonoir C3 demo? , im sure they would have to do the exact z sorting you are looking for there.

  • twood be cool if it was online and people had access to an editor to design the behaviour and wav / squad dynamimcs within a set of well-defined rules / classes / behaviours etc.

Once they felt ready, the user would press "battle" and their creation would be queued for an automated online battle with other users own created squads. And all other users could watch battles online in real-time.

    hmmm yes very cool indeed

there could be various skill levels upgrades but no pay to win please.

You are the man for it Newt,

    my patreon money is ready…

  • these guys seem to have achieved the worms thing pretty convincingly. dont ask me how though.

Im pretty sure they are still using Construct 2 or 3 but I cant see any updates on this forum from them.

    reven

    youtube.com/watch

about half way through the vid you will see the terrain destruction.

  • Very cool sir,

I was thinking to try the same in ma game some time ago.... but I did not have de kahonas....

Actually I would like to upgrade my comment to

    "Holy s**t....!"

    How the f........

HI mate I just had a look. I didnt solve your issue but I did find a way to make your game crash the C3 editor when swapping objects. So I am going to use it to raise a bug. I will try to have a look at the z sorting on the weekend, though it is hard to understand what you are doing with the different ghost bodies.

  • I just only now realised that you are the dude who made C2 Galaga. And that it was playing your Galaga that inspred me to start my own adventures in Construct...

so it is all your fault...!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Excellent man, I played last night for far too long. Even the wife came in as well, lured by the music, and played and appeared to enjoy which is depressing as she is never interested in my game :(

anyway man you have pro skilz.

Do you have all your projects collected somewhere on line?

(edit) yea I know I can click your name as see what you have uploaded to arcade but Im thinking of like a dedeicated website for your games.

  • Everything above is excellent advice. And just to add my 10c:

I have tried various things and the one most important main thing I have learnt is…

Do not compromise sleep to work on your game. If you get into a sleep deprived cycle everything in your life starts to suffer including your game.

You will literally be able to achieve 10 x more productivity in 1 or 2 hours in the morning if you are well rested and able to process properly and focus on solutions than in a whole week of late nights exhausted after work when you will be just staring aimlessly at the screen.

If I do anything game related In evenings now it will be chilled and enjoyable stuff like watching some youtube videos on an art processes or tools I am interested in, or watching 1CC shmup runs of the best payers (I am making a shmup) , or literally just playing the best games in the shmup genre that I can find. Or playing other games to study why they are so good or bad. I would never directly try to work in construct on the game any more late at night. It is just insanity. I have come back to my project after working in the evening /early mornings and saw what I did and it was so ridiculously lazy and hacked it had to be scrapped, was like a whole different person had attempted it.

Hey man thanks for you comments!

Technically it is an old house that needs a lot of work and I am thinking that I may have taken on more than I can handle. It has pretty much stopped me from working on the game but I am still doing bits here and there. And my kids well they are always saying they are going to do graphics for the game but nothing ever materializes so, yea looks like I am on my own on that front.

I have just started to properly looking at graphics to try to find a cohesive theme but to my surprise I have learnt that I have no idea about art and design so there is a lot of trial and error. Part of my learning is trying to seriously understand how to make additive / screening effects look like really glowing across varying backgrounds.

As part of my research I went to a big open air drum and bass rave and spent the whole night studying the lights and lasers to see what makes them actually look glowy. It was very enjoyable research! I think I will be having d&b soundtrack in the game also.

anyway so yea hope to show some of the results of this research in the next video in a week or two

    cheers

Man I shouldn't have started this should I.

OK my last non game related post ever on this forum.

Maybe I am not being clear. Im not talking about the forum. That is a small thing as you say. And Im not debating free speech. Interpretation of incitement to violence is itself debatable but yea sure things like death threats or violence threats sure ban all that. Ive been trying to avoid examples and choosing my words carefully so as to not turn this political totally defeating the point of the original post. But I specifically said say banning on on the basis of "ideological differences" or "socio-political" differences is wrong, ANd this is what large tech has been doing recently. and again , IM not talking about banning from the forum. Im talking about banning from the Construct platform.

You may not see it like this but you, Ashley, Scirra, are now the private owners of an online public content creation platform. Just like YouTube in a round about way. You may not host all the products created but you have complete control on who can and cannot access the platform used to create those products. And if you ever do get political as a company, (as for example google has), then there is nothing stopping you banning access to the tool or restricting services available, for those that dont align with your political views (as for example google is doing)

and even if you dont get political,,,, when, in a few years, Construct is the number 1 go to platform for the creation of interactive 2d content on the web used by hundreds of thousands of people around the world, and then governments start to see this and they will come knocking and say, hey Ashley we need you to ban access to the Construct tool for all these people because we dont like their political / social / religious views and if you dont then we are going to have to ask you to start policing all the content created using your tools and if you dont do that well then Im afraid you will have to close the Construct website.

I just see these very alarming things happening in tech, media and games companies recently, especially regarding online. In the last year my own company has started bombarding employees with a very hard left social political agenda, that as far as I can see can only be a directive from government, to the point where it has become uncomfortable and people are literally afraid to talk publicly about it for fear of losing their jobs.

anyway I know you guys are lovely and Ill shut up now.
