  • Can you tell us a little about how the game plays? I couldn't figure it out from watching the video.

I dig the art style though.

  • Smooth on my newish work Dell. Good luck!

  • Thanks nimbusfool for the tip on unzipping the project. I was able to create a .png file of the same name as the one that was missing and put it in the texture folder to save a few hours of work when this happened again today.

  • I actually do not. My copy of Windows 8 is clean of utility programs. I'll see if I can't try to duplicate it to find a pattern.

  • Coincidentally, this just happened to me again as well. Windows 8 x64, r114 64-bit. I left my computer on, it went to sleep mode and then to hibernate mode. Upon restarting my computer, I was greeted with a "Construct must close" Windows error. When I tried to open up my last save (the one that was open when the program quit) it searches unsuccessfully for a texture I added after the last save in AppData\Local\Temp, locking me from using the capx.

  • Same here. I just throw boxes around in Construct2 when I have an idea. As an artist, I can't be bothered to draw stuff before I prototype it as I can get into the graphics too much, therefore taking up a lot of my time, before I've even tested if the idea is fun or not!

If it's fun with crude shapes, then it'll be fun with decent graphics.

I pretty much do this. if it's a fun game with solid color blocks, it has a lot more potential to be a great game with better graphics tacked on.

You do have to have a strong minds eye for this though.

  • This is a really really really really (really?) really cool way to make games. Being able to edit your code and seeing it's effects immediately would but such a killing feature; such a time saver!

  • I don't' think this is a bug with the latest build in particular but just the way Construct is set up. I could be wrong though! Using v111 x64.

    It basically involves

1: when a local variable is deleted with a blank parent condition the blank parent condition goes too, and

2: actions being revived after being deleted along with their local variable when a local variable of the same name is reintroduced in a specific way.

No big things but I just though it's always helpful to have people looking at your programs functionality!

Super simple Capx with comments and directions:

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Fancy pants Scirra, you even get a mention and screenshot on Kotaku. Congrats guys. **tearing up**

  • I laughed slightly at...

Paste failed due to xml_exception during paste

While trying to copy an "Explosion"...

  • Hi TL, the game has together really well! I love that the game revolves around something pleasant (hugs and giving and happiness) rather than fighting. Very cool! I hope that's a trend that continues in video games, a medium whose content is dominated by conflict.

I hope you don't mind some constructive criticism! Mainly with the controls; they feel a little loose to me. It takes a bit to long to slow down after running in order to come to a stop or turn around. Also, if you release the jump button while jumping I'd expect a bit of momentum upwards still; right now the character immediately starts falling.

  • Ahh, missed that entirely.

  • Keep it vtrix! The speed of the rapid fire and the quickness of the ship movement makes it fun.

  • I was actually hoping to add something like this in my game, and was using this thread at stackoverflow as a base. Might point you in the right direction.

If you get to it before I do (lots of stuff to do before then) let us know!

  • Do a google search for "looping background scirra" and you'll find your answer :)
