  • Your only thinking of it from a potential winners point of view. Their investment in the Jam is meant as promotion for both Construct and NG. Not just for contestants, but people playing the games. If a good quantity of the submissions are of "limited" quality, it's actually negative as a promotion.

    That's actually a good point.

Though I still think solution C up there is the better option. I think they just looked at Solution B and decided.

"You wanna increase your chances of winning a subscription? Then subscribe!"

  • Thanks all but my issue IS that I need ads. I don't want to disable them.

Try Cadburry games' ad plugins. He's already ported them to C3 last I checked. Though your next potential problem is that guy never ever replies if and when something goes wrong. Check to see if Josek has ported his plugins to C3 as well. His worked well on C2 at least last year.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Exciting right?

Wait 'til it's time to export that project to actually make it usable outside of C2.....

  • [Del. Wrong info.]

  • £80 to export 3 games!.... Well thats hardly 'value for money' or goes in line with the way it was advertised on the website!... I feel this will escalate! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad">

Well it could've been way way WAY worse.

    https://www.scirra.com/blog/222/constru ... 12th-march

You'd have paid more if you'd bought the license 4 days later.

  • Well try to think of things in a positive light. Technically you bought an engine to make 3 games for your kids to play.

2 exported using Cocoon JS and 1 exported using PhoneGap.

If you want a 4th game then you may start feeling cheated again. : )

  • They sold it at a time when there used to be a free exportation option.

For now try and not think about it and enjoy learning the engine and worry about exportation later but DO get ready for it and prepare your Advils.

C2 is every bit as good as they say it is.

  • License Holders:

1st Place: Year's sub for C3, pig badge and sweet hamper

A guy who already owns a license is getting the better end of the deal without a doubt so it doesn't reflect poorly on you.

    NON-License Holders:

1st Place: Year's sub for C3, pig badge

    2nd Place: Year's sub for C3

So you're giving 2 new guys a chance to own the license; everyone has a chance to win.

All you have to do is msg Tom from NG to add extra instruction like an extra tag in his submission:

'subscriber', 'nonsubscriber' or something and that'll do the sorting for you.

    Please think about it.

  • That would be ludicrously expensive in terms of lost sales. A month is out of the question. We'd prefer to keep open jam events to a weekend-length duration, and even then, infrequently.

    Tom Ashley

I'm not going rogue and bringing up irrational anti-C3 arguments here. Just want this jam to be an equal playing field for everyone. Non-Subscribers are clearly at a disadvantage with this setup.

If it turns out a guy who already owns a C3 license ends up winning another one how do you think the others would react?

    C) BEST: Split the Jam participants into 2 categories: License oWners and NON-License Owners.

You have 3 licenses to give away. The current NG pool allows for 10 winners.

Splitting the pool to something like this:

    License Holders:

1st Place: Year's sub for C3, pig badge and sweet hamper

2nd Place: Pencils and pig badge

    3rd Place: pig badge

    4th Place: pig badge

    5th: Pig badge

    NON-License Holders:

1st Place: Year's sub for C3, pig badge

    2nd Place: Year's sub for C3

3rd Place: Pencils and pig badge

    4th Place: pig badge

    5th: Pig badge

looks fair since you don't have to provide extra licenses neither does Tom from NG have to provide goods.

  • Maybe

"Timer is too good to be included in free edition."

They want you to do your animations like this:

    [Char turn animation]

    Wait 0.2 seconds

    [Char does idle animation]

    Wait 0.2 seconds

    [Char does something]

    Wait 0.2 seconds

    [Char does another thing]

    Wait 0.2 seconds

    [Other_Object does something]

    ^

On the other hand this all fits into 1 event to help save those precious event slots so I guess that's a "Good" thing....

Can't you disable the limitations for the duration of this Jam https://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1430332 ?

  • (hopefully it will stay relevant for a few months).

    ^THIS SOOOOO much this.

Man nightmares of the good ol' exportation days coming back to me now....

  • Get one of the lower end Android devices 2016-17 models; maybe the 2nd most expensive in a series.

The lower the model, the higher market you're tapping into. If it works on a lower end device, it'll work on higher end ones.
