  • Currently I am having my health display always be in the top left hand corner using

    Always/ Set "Health Display" to Scroll X - 375

but when moving (scrolling) it shakes like a coke addict! Is there a smarter way to maintain it's position?

(If anyone knows, Is the invalid texture bug resulted from using tilted backgrounds? I'm occasionally getting this error.)

  • Thanks Ashley!

  • Alright, works now! I am so embarrassed, I had the layout set to the wrong event sheet! I'm going to have to re-register and change my name I'm so ashamed!

If anyone needs help playing sounds, let me explain what I have learned:

Let's assume you want the sound at layout start. Make sure to have the sound file in the same directory as .cap file for ease of use, otherwise you music specify the directory!

    1. Right click-> Insert the Audio Object Direct Sound into the layout (it will not be visible)

    2. Several play options:

2a. Start of Layout-> Direct Sound/ Play music "filename.mid" (Works with Midi)

2b. Start of Layout-> Direct Sound/ Load File "filename.wav" (you can edit which channel, but it is okay to leave at channel 0)

    +

Play Direct Sound Channel 0 (or you can specify another channel)

    2c. Start of Layout-> Direct Sound/ Autoplay "filename.wav"

This may be trivial to some but if you don't know what you're doing then all power to ya!

Hope this helps someone! Rich, Instance, Ashley, thank you all so much!

  • Argghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Construct is really erking me

The example TheInstance gave works fine, i use his .wav file and use the same events and it won't play the sound on my game. Then, some "texture error" comes up at run time and i have to alt f4 out.

    I can't get anything accomplished with construct...maybe I should wait till 1.0

  • Thanks Rich! I wasn't aware of that object!

I still cannot play any sounds, even after converting my wav to pcm format using the directions on the wiki.

Can I assume midi playback is not supported?

    (does not play sound-------------------------------^)

  • Hello it's Mr. Question again

1.What sounds types does Construct support now and are there any future types to be supported?

2.How do you play sounds? LOL...I want to play a midi at the start of layout, so:

Start of Layout->System: Play Sound "cheese.mid" with flags

But no play, also tried playing a .wav but no work either. (The midi is in the same directory as game file.)

Sorry to ask so many questions )

  • Ashley- Alright I guess I'm just getting used to Construct's image editor. I opened up the Main Character under the animation tab and filled in the area with a solid color then used magic wand to make transparent. All is good! Thanks!

  • I'll admit I used Paint when I saved the file. I just use a white background and fill in the transparent sections using the program (construct in this case). I wouldn't think we should have to set a transparent color in our imagine program to set transparency, shouldn't we be able to do it directly in Construct should we choose? (I do have Photoshop CS3, thanks TheInstance!) I tried using the magic wand & eraser yet i had no response from either. Even the pen tool didn't respond! Is it my machine only? I am using the new version. Perhaps I'm not too smart? LOL I ask to many questions..

If need be here is the cap file (layout 2)

  • Terve everyone! How is your day going? It's a beautiful day today here in VA!

I have a small, stupid question, my sprites have a filled transparent color around them, however they appear to have a like 10% semi-transparent fill instead of 100%. Hmm..does that make sense? Ah, the picture will explain what I am talking about! (I search for this and didn't see it asked)

    <img src="http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/3/4/1796632/boxaw.PNG">

What do I need to do to fix this?

  • Yeah! Thanks Ashley! Now I feel more comfortable with the animation editor!

    Kiitos!

  • Awesome work everyone!

SoldjahBoy : Wow! Your Azarayah model is very impressive! That was done in Zbrush? I just learned 3dsMax 9 in school and we've been told about the almighty Zbrush and how powerful it is! Props on the face, that a is VERY difficult body part to do...lol..How does your wife feel about your style of women you do? *noting the nipple hint*

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Sounds like a great concept, I definately look forward to playing that in the future! I tried out your cap file, the movement is really great, feels very "space like" lol. I will say, just in my opinion, the turning is a bit too slow/resistant, or at least when in movement. Otherwise, awesome work!

  • Excellent explanation Captain Oblivious! Wow that sure cleared things up! Actually after reading this I can say Construct has a much better system for animation, surely the auto mirror is a great option to have!

Perhaps you should post this in the construct wiki for animation?

Really, I thank you so much, great help!

  • > next up "Game Maker guy" XDDDD

    >

    they're like collectors items!!! BAHAHA

AH NOT GAMER MAKER!!!! NO WAIIIII!!!!

RPG maker man what a beaver of a program! It takes foooorever to make a game with that! And adding your own animations...pssh forget it! I had the RPG maker for PSone, it was really lame. But hey, welcome toilet hero!

  • Attan, how right you are! I noticed the ability to have layouts link to certain event sheets, what a great feature!
