  • I've always wanted to try MMF2, some of my favorite indie games are made with it. (Example: Anything from origamihero)

But I want to make a few games with Construct first before trying other programs, still learning.

  • I was thinking its a made up word that sounds cool. As for me, it kinda varies how I pronounce it. Sometimes I say "Skeer-uh" or "Skur-uh" or "Seer-uh" and sometimes I say Skyrim for some reason.

  • Construct has a steep learning curve

Not really, learning from the Ghost Shooter tutorial will have you on the right track in no time.

  • Looks good, except I don't really like how it makes the channels look.

  • 403 ERROR on those example links.

    Fixed. Sorry about that

Very useful tool. It is kind of buggy though (With my experience, DON'T use the bucket tool, and be sure to always check what tools are selected) Not only can you use it for tilesets, you can even make animation with it. Its a bit complicated and hard to understand at first, but you'll get used to it and create some cool things. Here is 2 examples, of what I made with it for my own game.

    Tiles 1

    Tiles 2

  • Oh yeah, lol. Reminds me of Terminator on the Sega CD with that in mind

  • Kind of reminds me of Sega Genesis for some reason, cool effect!

  • Mostly series of games, heh.

    5. Metroid Prime (Series)

Had a lot of fun with these games, played them on the Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Nintendo Wii, which sure was a fun Summer.

    4. Turrican (All of them)

Now this series right here got me into music composing, and game design.

    3. Streets of Rage (All of them)

Another one I had fun with, and another one that got my into music composing.

    2. Double Dragon II NES

By far my favorite NES game of all time. Real fun, and has one of the best endings I've ever seen in a game.

    1. Fallout 3

Words can't describe, to me, this game has every thing, and I find a little more every time I play. I could talk all day about it, the story is great, (While it mostly has elements from the first 2 Fallout games, it blends all together, successfully reintroducing the series) the entire soundtrack is good, the secrets and items are good, exploring is fun, and overall everything is really satisfying. Fallout 3 is probably the most memorable game I've ever played.

  • For some reason I was expecting a title like "Why Construct will murder Game Maker in the long run and will triumph in glory as the standard of game development." lol, good article. I see a good future for Construct.

  • Instead of MMF2 (Never used it) I was fed up with Game Maker. Too confusing for me, and the community (YoYoGames) weren't friendly at all. I just tolerated it and tried making my first game, Pulse's Antivirus.

I found Construct a little later off of some site called Pixelprospector, showing games that were made in it. I saw like 2, but overall I wasn't too impressed, until I saw The Iconoclasts demo. So I learned about it further, and I'm already like 30% done with my first game! Whee!

  • I wouldn't trust it. Its made by the same guy who made "Bob's Game" which was a joke, I wouldn't put my hopes up on this. But it would be an awesome system.

  • I'm in America, and yeah the system is the same. Most bookstores allow orders too.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • This is exactly what I have been looking for, thanks! Maybe I'll look for it at a library

  • I can beta test I suppose. But just a question, are you up to this? 5-6 hours of gameplay can be a lot of work, especially if that is just a regular playthrough. I would definitely not predict what my own game would have, its not a good idea to set up all of that before starting the game. I would think realistically first, and just start the game, before telling any one what it will have in detail, and think of ideas of what it will have as I go on. Because eventually, you won't have any energy left to finish the game, and if you do, you won't have a whole lot to work on another. Just saying, I like your idea of a Silent Hill fan game, but try not to bite off more than you can chew.
