  • Sounds good to me as bugs probably isn't the right place for it after all since it's not a bug in C2 itself.

  • Thanks for the replies, i will try the file way.

FYI ashley to quote myself "any ideas" i didn't ask you to fix a WINE bug. I just wanted to know what was causing it as i know you don't support Linux at all and never will, you have made that quite clear to me in the past.

I just wanted ideas that's all.

  • Okay so for the most part the game maker now works pretty well in WINE on Linux.

The only bug I have so far is when trying to preview the apps, it wouldn't let me copy and paste the error message so here's a screenshot for you, any ideas?

  • I see the main problem. 30 day demo users get all features even updates, even though they are slow they still get them.

Where as if you pay after a while you don't get them at all, i can't see it working, that bit needs re-thinking.

  • We're not just talking about the price.

The reason is, that after 2 years, the subscription runs out and the software isn't yours anymore.

Also, we're not all companies that yearn 20'000 Pounds per year. We're talking mostly about normal earning people.

So you can't afford ?1.66 a month? That's what it works out to. Besides you can still then use it - you just won't get updated?

  • I think it sounds like a really good idea. It allows everyone to use it no matter their situation.

Although i hope if someone paid 40 for the two years they pay to keep the software without any nag screens past the 2 years but just no updates?

Also i like the idea of it being a subscription over that period, i think 2 years is a good time frame as you could buy it year one, halfway through construct 3 could come out and you then have access to that.

Still....Linux GUI would be worth paying for...HINT.

  • Well they don't have a Linux GUI...yet another thing you could trump all the others with, given that the way Construct is done is far better than all the others.

  • I say Android or Linux exporter

  • Well if it all becomes closed source paid for count me out :\</p>

  • Yeah i just thought that too, gah, well whatever you decide it's your choice and you can garuntee people will use it and love it.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Might be a better idea to have the windows exe closed source keeping the html5 exporter open source as the example? To show that you not only support html5 but having it open source too i think would be good for image, where as closed source paid for (whatever you want donation?) windows exe would work.

  • Go for it, then with some of the money....build me a Linux native GUI!

  • $89 pledged already, good going.

I will be sorting one or two out once on payday as well

  • Knowing the Opera folk they will come out with a much faster build in the coming months, same for firefox as firefix 4 looms.

  • Firefox 3's javascript engine is pretty old in comparison, no wander people are getting lower scores really.
