  • Thank you!! I totally appreciate it!

I created the music (and sound effects) using Sony Acid Music Studio, and I was pretty pleased with it too, after a lot of dead end tries.

At first I had every collision causing a sound and that was WAAAAAAAY too much! Ack! So I settled on a "music bed" and mixed in some of the sound effects into that (so that your mind would actually think there was more going on than there is)- I wanted a pinball game feel.

The game itself only has like 4 sounds - one for when the "ground" gets destroyed, one for firing a "photon", one for killing the "Buff Monsters" and one for hitting the "Big Buff Cloud" (that's the "bell" sound). And then there's the "continue" and "game over sounds" - plus some applause on the exit screen - lol.

I am so happy you like it. Hoping it wasn't too annoying but glad the audio/music was working for you!

Oh, and the male voice saying "H?pfen" is from recorded Google translate ;)

  • Hey thanks for checking it out! Since I couldn't post any pictures in this post, people may have just skipped it, so I really appreciate the extra effort to take a look! Thank you!!!

Mulkaccino: It "looks" a lot more confusing than it actually is.

    HOW TO PLAY:

Defend the ground by shooting the invading "Buff Monsters". To fire Photons, press the SPACE BAR, or TOUCH the screen if you have a touch enabled device. Score more points than the "Buff Monsters" to continue play.

Because you cannot control the "player" (that funny ball-shaped guy)as he bounces around - it becomes a test of timing your shots or using bank-shots.

You have to avoid hitting the BIG BUFF CLOUD as it subtracts points if you hit it. You can also "power up" the DOODLE BOX (that dark square looking thing that bounces around) and it will act like a charged up PHOTON - destroying BUFF MONSTERS while it is still powered up (it looses power for each monster it kills, or all of its power if it hits the BIG BUFF CLOUD).

Since I've played this game like a 20,000 times while developing it, I forget that it's not so obvious how to play! lol

I'm working on a non-WebGL version but wanted to share this version as this is the one I am fond of :)

Thank you again for the feedback!!!

  • Hello all!

  • Hello all, just wanted to let you know that my first C2 game: H?pfen is uploaded (after sooooooo many attempts) to the Chrome web store! Hurray!

I could not have muddled my way through this development without all the excellent community support (forums, tutorials, documentation) that is here at SCIRRA! THANK YOU ALL! (ok ok, I'm a little wound up from the game actually WORKING on the web store so forgive my euphoria - Happy New Year indeed!)

I'll be posting some "postmortem" videos and behind the scenes stuff on my website: scobot.com/blog but until then, enjoy the game at:

    chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/h%C3%BCpfen/ganbendpbfjlnfbcckljaglfaadmoagm

(I guess there will be a shorter URL for the game at some point - lol - I don't know :)

    Take care!

  • I "think" you can use the SYSTEM EVENT "Effects are Supported". Then (if true) add the ACTION to go to your game layout. If not, then load a layout that says something like "This game uses WebGL effects, please use a browser that supports WebGL such as Chrome" - with a nice link or something.

I am going to try that as I only want my game to run with WebGL effects.

Not sure if his will help with your audio "check list" - but maybe it will get you closer. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

There is probably something in the CSS/HTML/Index file that could be modified too - but that is beyond my skill set. lol

  • Try Construct 3

  • THAT WORKED!!!!!

    Thank you SULLY!!!

I suspected something like that but had no idea how to go about looking for a solution. "Reset Dialogues" worked like a charm!

    Thank so much. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • I must be doing something wrong, but I can no longer access "Instance Variables". When I select an object, and click on "Instance Variables", nothing happens, no window/dialog box opens, nothing.

I have tried to access this through the projects bar (right click on object, select "Instance Variables") in case it was my mouse acting up, and still nothing.

All that happens is the ADD/EDIT turns blue (as if selected) for a second, then turns grey.

All other parameters (like add behavior) etc work fine.

I even tried creating a family, and guess which parameter was NOT accessible: FAMILY INSTANCE VARIABLES! Family Behaviors (fine), Family Effects (fine).

Now, for the real head scratcher - this will not work on ANY caproj or capx files. NOT EVEN THE EXAMPLE files will allow me to add/edit "Instance Variables"!

Any ideas? I even uninstalled and re-installed the latest construct2.

I will keep hunting around for a fix. Maybe something in the preferences? I was happily creating stuff, doing tutorials, all was fine util now.

ONLY thing I can think of is the window is opening "off screen" somewhere. I was using two monitors a couple of days ago, now laptop only. Also was using USB mouse, now using track pad on laptop (on vacation, working on my game! lol) - so maybe it's something with that?

I'm sure I'm screwing up, but really, why that ONE parameter!?

    Thanks!!!
