  • Hey thanks

I had no idea you could rotate layers! I agree it may not be the best solution for this, but good to know - you never know when that might come in handy.

Yes, after I posted this I realized that I should just make a PNG sprite of the HUD in Photoshop and use that - it was just enticing to build it in C2, but this will be better in the long run.

    Thanks again for your help!

  • Ok, maybe I'm not using the 9-Patch object correctly, but I'd like to be able to set the angle. There is no "angle" parameter under the "common" properties.

WHY? I just like the look of the boxes better than a scaled/stretched sprite - for all the reasons given in the example of the 9-patch, it just looks better. I'm using (well, was trying to use) them as HUD elements, but need to place them at different angles, not just parallel boxes.

    Thanks!

PS: I did try to use the action "Move at Angle" where I set the "move" parameter = 0 and the angle to 45. But that didn't do anything. And that may not be the proper way to express that anyway. <img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

PPS: Is there any hidden "gotcha" stuff with the 9-patch object, like "Oh, it doesn't work in Safari." I'd like to know before I get too far committed to it. Thanks!!

  • I really like the character animation - with his arms waving behind him as he runs, very funny & good! I also like how you chose to make him "turn" in the air when he jumps, good effect too.

I couldn't make it past the first pit as I am terrible at platformers - but it seems like a well designed game.

    Good job!!

  • Whiteclaws Thanks for sharing this! <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Congratulations!!!

  • Thanks for the pep talk Spyral99 & tanoshimi!

It does sound like a GOOD thing, my problem is not knowing when to call a game DONE! Endlessly tweaking code and art LOL - so maybe this would help me as I'd have to finish the thing and be done with it!

Ok, deep breath, looking now, "Rogue" eh? Hmmmmm.....

  • Try Construct 3

  • That spider is using dynamic animations(So it would be limping if missing one leg).

VERY COOL!! I'd love to see a tutorial on how you did the dynamic animations. Awesome. Way to go! <img src="smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> And great job getting the "look" in game. Looks really good.

  • Updated the icon - maybe that will catch people's eyes. I didn't realize it would be so small!

  • Excellent. Good job sticking with it! Glad it worked out. Thanks for the link. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Beautiful look! I really like the atmosphere with the "fog" layer - nice effect! I really like the music too - hopefully that is the soundtrack you are going with. <img src="smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Keep up the great work and good luck!!!!

  • I like the animations in Luxor. Looks fun!

    Buena suerte con su proyecto! (via google translate<img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />)

  • Very cool. Great animations!!!! Looks like there is a lot of cool stuff going on. Good job!

Is the video "processed"? It looks like it might have a few filter effects on it or is this actual gameplay video with no post processing? Does the game have this "film" look (with skips) and Sepia tone? Did you accomplish this using WebGL effects? Great look.

    Is there a demo?

  • Spyral99 I like this game concept! Good story/idea to build on <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> Keep going.

tanoshimi thanks for the link to "one game a month.com" - something I thought about doing too, now reading about it, I find I'm a little intimidated! lol. I may have to warm up to it.

  • Great artwork! Nice clean UI. Impressive amount of work!!! Good job. Any video of gameplay? You can post it here using bbcode

  • I might be missing something, but is there a way to "follow" a selected forum post/topic? I find myself scrolling back through posts to look for updates on posts I am interested in.

If not, just an idea, maybe this feature could be contained inside the Scirra site (notifications go to my "in box") like "POSTS YOU ARE FOLLOWING". Maybe there could be "tags" as well to help organize, or a project home page - maybe that's what I'm really thinking about, a project/topic home page? I don't know <img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" /><img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Thanks!
