  • Trying to see things from an indie game developer's standpoint, would vote on consoles.

Construct's main objective? To create games. And the most widespread gaming machines are consoles and PCs, I would think. Gaining market share on more gaming platform would be marvellous. Should perhaps see the statistics about consoles and PCs owned/sold.

    Other OS-es (mac, linux) :

    -are not specially for gaming.

-with current Win support PC area is already covered mainly.

Why to bother more about PCs any more?

    Internet:

-the phuture it is, maybe when TV sets will be capable of sufring the net, then this would be a very good target for construct, would think.

mobile devices, android, ipods etc. :

-are again not specifically for playing games.

Consoles remain the target, as being popular, specifically gaming platforms.

  • chrisbrobs ,

that tutorial must have been a lot of work.

Maybe the community hasn't discovered your work yet? Maybe that's not the correct announcement thread.

Great thanx for putting it together.

    have fun.

  • The game project star 2 is really impressive as is the Russian site.

    They have their own

-tutorials ("how to create a platformer in 5 minutes",... )

    -aritcles about latest games

-can be seen that it is a lively, living community.

Great site, would worth to translate it !

  • Greets.

Just being curious if it is only me that lacks abilities for creating graphic art, or you also had to find some good solution to overcome that?

There is a very limited royalty free, public domain sprite resource available on the net, this can't be sufficient for every programmer...

*Thinking: Construct is great, but how to create things without gfx?*

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Gr8 thanx for thy info.

So seems, Construct is on a respectful place even among game editors, aye?

What about comparision with simple language / api like python / pygame, how would development time be on the same 2d project?

(i just want to be persuaded, that Construct is not to be missed in any way, and is capable of developing fully playable 16-bit like games)

  • Greets Constructors.

Construct is very impressive even after a few hours use, shader support, line of sight option etc, hats off.

What kind of games could be created with Construct? Strictly 2D, but any genre within that? All the 2d 16-bit (amiga) game collection could be "remade"? Or how to draw the limits of this *amazing* editor? Arcade, shootem up, platformers, strategy, simulation, rpg can all be covered? Net capabilities shall also be implemented?

How would you rate it among game maker and unity and etc...?
