  • If you are using 8 direction control for your enemies all enemies will jump that are on screen.

You can use Y coordinates to simulate a jump and use that for a character specific behavior event.

On Enemy1 collision with Wall move Enemey1 -40 in Y direction.

    Something like that.

  • Have you looked in the Scirra store?

Not my template and have not tried it but looks like you want a basic clicker game layout.

  • If you upload your game to the Scirra arcade you can set up a leaderboard and let that take care of high scores.

Otherwise you will need to use local storage.

    Is your name Tom?

You are being a troll and you know it.

My post was to Tom not you.

"We will still have a basic free edition of Construct 3." - posted by Scirra on the blog three days ago. You can use C3 whether you subscribe or not. What's your opinion about that?

Depends on what is has in the way of features and like I said I am not against them releasing another version and maybe there are more game designers that want to develop for consoles that will be interested.

I am sure I will probably try out the free version and my point was about increasing customer volume instead of focusing on a small market of console and mobile game designers and taking care of those that have supported you and not dumping us as I have seen happen with other game engines going to subscriptions.

That is my thoughts on that and my post was to Tom and is my opinion.

Construct 2 owners are a small base of customers. Can you link me to where you are finding these fake facts?

The upgrade is for C2 owners with a personal license I do believe.

    Your tone is offensive.

    End of discussion.

They are, it's $49 for a year when you upgrade. That's the price you wanted. Then after a year you can decide if it's worth paying $99.

Many people considering C3 will not have a license to upgrade so you are focusing on a small base of customers.

    Have a great day!

  • lol, fall in love. Lovin' that imagination of yours though. Keep it up, but of course in-line with your game.

I was just saying, due to the immens popularity of GTA people will immediately think your is about something similar, while it's actually the opposite. It does attract attention to your game by the name alone though. But I don't know, this is just my opinion.

I'm also working on games for fun, although my current project has gotten out of hand a bit. But we'll see, I'm busy assuring quality so perhaps there are some monetisation opions in the future.

One of the turn offs that parents have to GTA is the criminal element and violence. This is going to be focused for those who like to drive and accomplish missions and have adventures but with a positive message so parents won't be offended by the game.

Thanks for the feedback and have a great day!

    > This assumption that Scirra is only going to have 100 people subscribe to C3 is silly.

    >

I think his point was that at 3x price your customer count goes down to 1/10. It won't scale in their favour.

In any case, I fear Bleenx is correct. My instant reaction on seeing the announcement was "shit... this is not gonna work out is it". One of the problems is C2 is already pretty feature-complete. Scirra needs to offer some strong incentives to pull customers in to buy C3, and 99$ subscription is a large pull in the wrong direction.

I agree and unless C3 can do 3D or something amazing not even possible with C2 I just can's see spending more for it as I am not designing for consoles and that is a limited customer base I believe.

I also worry they will just drop support for C2 to focus on C3 and that would be leaving out a whole lot of users that have committed to using C2.

I am not against a new version or Scirra making money but I have seen this happen with 001 Game maker and they had a great game engine but subscriptions and lack of update and support for older versions killed them off.

Take care of your customer base that feeds you every day I say!

    >

Maybe $99 a year is not expensive for you but I see many people on Scirra are young kids and people from other countries where $99 is a lot of money.

Shutting those customers and potential customers out with a high cost is not a good idea but hey you are welcome to your opinion.

    > To put it in perspective it is better to have 1,000 customers buying a license and subscription at that price than it is to have only a 100 buy the license for more and never subscribe.

You are welcome to your opinion but the math is the math and having more volume of customers is better than having less and the higher the cost the less customers you will have as any business owner will tell you.

    Have a great day!

  • Hey,

What are your intentions with the game, sell it as an app or just for fun/testing or..? Just curious.

    - R

This is still very early beta and is just testing the traffic and driving for now. That first level is practice so you can learn to enter and exit traffic and move from lane to lane.

If you rush right out in traffic in a real car you get slammed from behind in real life lol!

The story is not following Grand Theft Auto and this is Grand Thumb Auto. I intentionally will keep any criminal behavior out of the game and after you collect the dropped money from the armored car you will return it and get a reward to pay for your car.

Then you will be busy picking up customers and taking them to their destinations. Some customers have very interesting stories that will send you on missions to earn bonuses and better vehicles and you will be able to exit the vehicle and complete side missions.

The story is still developing but you will become involved with characters like Kelly the hot dispatcher maybe and fall in love. That is just one idea.

I will probably make it free to play with a shorter story version and maybe a long version with scenery and cars and missions for a paid version but I am a long ways from making that decision. For now it is just for fun.

Angiel, between now and the beta by April we'll be showing you lots of Construct 3 things

    Hi Tom!

From what I have read of the preliminary plan I just think Scirra is pricing themselves out of business going with such a high subscription rate.

Having run online businesses that needs people to subscribe and stay tuned for new materials I can tell you that very few people will pay $99 a year for a subscription.

I suggest you would make more money having more volume of customers and more customers attracts more customers if you would set your C3 personal license at $50 and $20 a year subscription gets you all the updates and addons and what ever other bonuses you can think of as incentives.

People will get a great deal at $50 for a licensed version and will be alot more inclined to sign up for a $20 subscription for ongoing updates and addons and that is ongoing revenue for Scirra.

To put it in perspective it is better to have 1,000 customers buying a license and subscription at that price than it is to have only a 100 buy the license for more and never subscribe.

    Just my opinion!
