  • I think this is the purpose of the "How do I" section, don't you ?

    Some people still prefer to post in C2 general though, but most of the examples you are naming are already in the "how do I".

    I've gathered a list of frequently asked questions/examples that can be found in the section. If you found more, please report them in the topic and I'll add them to the list.

  • .capx is the format of your project when you "Save as a single file" (basicly a .zip of a folder project).

    To post it, check out this tutorial about dropbox.

  • Ashley told us on IRC that the high-score displayed was the high scores between you and your FB's friend playing the game.

    Yes, browsers will keep on improving. I think, btw, that FF 8.0 is to be released before the end of the year and 9.0 to be released in the first 3 months of 2012. (with yet again performances improvement).

    Anyway, keep up the good work !

  • Nice vid.

    The game is nice too, but when I tested it in my FF 7.0.1, the "whip" only went half the distance and seemed to need some "reloading" (it wasn't automatic as it appears in the vid).

    It made the game really hard and quite frustrating.

    Nevertheless it is well made, and very nice to the eye.

    Also I made a little "technical review" of the entries I've tested in FF with firebug on. There appear to be something strange on your game page within prototype.js.

  • Check the games that were provided for the C2 comp. Those games were made in two weeks.

    40+ entries, and pretty good games in there (and some are done by pro teams). I'd say it is ok for pro devellopers. Would it only be as a matter of prototyping.

    Potential is here to make serious projects that can be monetized in my opinion.

    Maybe some kind of subforum might direct/gather said suggestions. But in the end, I'm afraid that's the part that would be "spammed" with about everything and anything, while not being really efficient.

  • In the expressions window (available when setting the value for a variable for example) when you double click on system.

  • Fimbul: Restart is bugged (ship does not reappear).

    I can't see the "lower ground" (as if the view did not follow the ship's altitude).

    Is there a way to shoot or to have some action ?

    Direction is via the hellish "WASD" :/ it's an horror on my keyboard. Also the ship is slow to move, making it hard to avoid/dodge bullets.

    It looks nice otherwise, I'd love to see this more "polished" and "working" (by knowing what all the controls are, missing from the helps screen).

  • Game: Space Jinx

    Space Jinx is a physic/reflexion adventure game in which you guide a character to the POD area of each level by controling the rotation of the ship it is being in. You can also apply vertical impulsions on the character in a gravity 0 environement.

    The game was made for the first Construct2 Competition in about a week and a half.

    Thanks Yann (FrenchYann on IRC) for the starting code for the ship rotation.

    This was made for the first C2 competition with the theme "outer space".

    The capx is released this commented version for educational puposes. Please don't just rip it off, try to learn from it.

    Also please don't use the medias of this project in others of your projects. I've done them and I'm not a graphist, I just took the time to mess around in an image editor. If I can, so can you.

  • Even a fan game should ask permission to use characters/images/intellectual properties in any form first.

    Maybe the companies close their eyes on the thousands of known (and less known) fangames out there but legally, you are bond to ask first as long as it is copyrighted material.

    Naming the righful owners is a thoughtful/respectful thing to do, but it doesn't prevent you from having a permission first. If they feel like it, companies might take action towards your game (as ginseng samurai said "because it comes down to control over the assets and representation.")

  • Well, if this is indeed a bug, post your capx and the specs of your computer as asked in How to report bugs.

    I've had my fair share of crashes too, and posted my capx for Ashley to check out.
