  • Use the public dropbox link of your index.html file and paste it in the URL bar.

A good idea would be to post it here as well so we can check if there's any issue.

The tutorials about dropbox should be up to date.

There is the original and a "revision" that was posted later on.

And you should also check for errors in your browser.

  • Unlikely.

    Last sale happened during January.

  • I believe .sfx format/extension only works with winrar (and possibly registered winrar), making it so that any user who doesn't own winrar can't simply execute/play your game.

Once again, it doesn't matter to have several dll/files, to me a single exe has always been more suspicious then several files.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • As mentioned, try to uninstall, download again and re-install the version.

For card drivers, according to your graphic cards it might be worth checking directly on the vendors website if newer drivers are available.

Also, it might be worth rebooting your computer, it looks like there was a Windows update those days.

  • smallbear: There's no way to "dumb down" the SDK implementation unfortunately, because it is what it is, JavaScript implementing.

Also, the SDK is not something required to use C2 as almost everything can be done through the events system.

As any other coding "language" it takes time and practice to get used to it, but C2's event systems lowers greatly the barrier. And if you really need to add some "external" feature through the SDK, the manual introduction gives the first steps to take.

But you have the learn JavaScript and it's out of the scope of this FAQ.

I'm sorry, I'm still not sure I fully understand your point on prototyping though.

C2 is marketed as a quick prototyping tool. But it doesn't prevent users from going through the beginner's tutorials to get the basics of how C2 works and then moving on to "more complicated" programming/concepts.

And since there is a full section of the website dedicated to those tutorials which are categorised according to the "level" of the users, as well as the regular manual, that's why those aren't listed in this FAQ.

The FAQ focuses on specifics questions. "How do I realize that specific feature in C2".

  • smallbear: For your first comment, implementing foreign bits of code, that's kind of what the SDK is there for and a dedicated forum exists.

Nevertheless, SDK isn't "inside" C2 and is more developer oriented than those "extracts"/bits of events you can use within C2 itself.

For prototyping, I'm not sure exactly what you imply. This FAQ relies on topics in the forums that provide specific examples/questions that people ask/provides.

One can consider that most of those examples are prototypes or ways to achieve your own prototypes.

  • arcalaus: The "NOTITLE" warnings refer to a post that mentioned your nickname, or from a post that was put in one of the threads you started and that was then deleted. (either the user who posted was a spammer that was banned, or maybe someone that made a mistake posting to you/in your thread and deleted their post afterwards)

If you think you have found a bug in Construct 2 you can report it in this forum BUT
    • Make sure it is not already a reported bug by searching through the "Bugs" forum
    • Make sure it is not a bug in your events, a difference between what you have coded and what you would expect
    • Make sure you're using the very latest version of Construct 2 (beta possibly, stable if this is the very latest release available)
    • Attach a .capx of the issue in the simplest manner possible (no 100+ events capx, no 10 mb capx)
    • Make sure to read How to report bugs before posting and providing all the required informations (your configuration, the steps to use to reproduce the bug, any relevant information you can provide)

As an added bonus, here are the links to the former "What you may have missed" topics.

  • Just so you know, some people will arrive and start with the "How to make a platform game" tutorial, simply discarding the beginner's guide.

So having the same bits of informations is kind of good practice for those two beginning tutorials.

Also, it doesn't hurt to repeat and provide the same informations from a tutorial to another, especially for newcomers that might have no experience in coding/game making.

  • Graphic gales previous version is provided as a free version, no need to "overcome that".
