  • Wow! Excellent example R0J0hound! Could be used for so many cool effects! :D

  • Are you talking about acceleration on a platform character?

You can always tie the animation speed to the x velocity of the character - like so :

Say animation is 24fps and the walk cycle syncs up with the characters top speed of 330pps.

Then each tick, while walking animation is playing - set anim speed to:

    Character.Platform.VelocityX/Character.Platform.MaxSpeed*24

  • I've made this happen a few times too - I think trying to CTRL+SHIFT+ALT or various combinations trying duplicate on-grid or remove objects from a selection.

  • Once I get the monkey robot working properly with bullets ( not made the sprites/animations yet) - I'll throw up a demo capx - the monkey walks on sloped floors but the body stays straight, if anyone got to the monkey part. :)

  • I uploaded an example to the arcade, there's probably many different ways, and perhaps someday it maybe natively supported (which'd sure be nice!) , but this is my cheap and dirty trick.

It involves changing the collision width of the 'placeholder' platformer object but works mostly.

  • I fixed the indefinite water jumping bug, but I need to fix the monkey now.

Will post an update soon, thanks for giving it a whirl!

  • I ran the checker tool and it said I was up to date. Bizarre!

I reinstalled Construct again and now it works - who knows!

  • If you were able to extract frequencies, you could potentially create some singing game, or even on a simple level, by testing volume, have the user make noises that are converted into terrain, for a runner/cave flyer type game haha.

  • Ashley or Tom - I can PM you a link to the project.

I am using beta R99 - and it's been working great - but I just tried opening a project this morning, and it appeared to load fine, but 3 seconds after loading Construct 2 crashed ( windows dialogue comes up with the "searching for solutions to this problem" box ).

I uninstalled and reinstalled Construct2, and the crash doesn't happen, however it seems all the sprites are invisible in the editor, though on export or testing of the project via local host, they appear in game as normal.

    Specs - Win 7 64-bit Home Premium

    4GB Ram

    Intel i3 540

  • Fun game, I couldn't figure out what the difference between the two fire buttons was, but some thoughts-

Normal fire - Straight line from character in direction he's facing [left/right]

Alt-Fire - The parabola shot you have now.

When a trench is leading down to the lava, the normal shot could push robots off the edge into the hole.

Really love the destructive terrain. :)

  • For the first level, maybe the stuffed dogs can die with one hit, or give the bear a health bar?

I may just suck, but it's very challenging to get beyond the first part with the music box and explore the rest.

Love the animation and graphics so far. :)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Great tool and very quick!

Just reporting one tiny bug - it seems if you draw a circle then a square, you get a persistent red circle that can't be drawn over with the square.

One other thing - would it be possible to add shift/CTRL clicking to shape drawing like photoshop for more control - for example with the rectangle :

Mouse only - Upper left corner starts and cursor click, bottom right moves with cursor while button down and is completed on release.

CTRL - The above but drawing centred on cursor.

SHIFT - Constrain to cube shape (equal sides)

  • Sounds interesting! Do you have any shots to post here? Am curious to see some of the panels after reading the descriptions on the demo, and to hear some of the music.

Play to level 2, there's a monkey robot that follows you.

Am looking forward to getting the next version of Spriter to have a go at maybe doing something a little more complex for the enemies - but for the moment, it's a pair of legs that spawns a body, so the legs adjust to the angle of the ground while the body stays horizontal.

It's smart enough to jump most objects, but can't swim or detect holes yet. :D
