  • Well. apparently this ain't been fixed yet.

I tend to think this reputation.hunt ain't a best way to treat people who have spend 100? (or so) on a program. I understand the need to limit random-bot-logins from spamming the site.

  • There is quite nice looking tutorial of adding ladders to game. I have not yet tested these instructions but they seem rational enough.

See: Simple Ladder for Platformer Game

    Since I can't post links, I don't.

(Edit.. there's another tutorial too) I have not tested this one so I can't tell if it works or not.

  • I do not know where to post an incomplete game (still adding basics) but still not a "test" per se.. but here is what I have been working on since I got on Construct 2 a few days ago. :)

    ...

Sometimes I notice that the ball go beyond the boundary on the sides/up. Boo!

Also no sound at all because of a simple reason: I am deaf. ;)

Well. Perhaps you could do the way comix writers do. Add a big effect sounds at the events.. Ever seen MAD magazine, especially comix by Don Martin?   see boingboing. net/2014/01/06/don-martins-sound-effects-a.html

    As a game itself:

I kinda did like the twists on the Breakout idea, but lost the ball way too soon at the top right part of the area? To me it looks like the vertical speed of the ball is well under control, but apparently horizontal speed acts errantly?

Addendum: on second try it worked well and I got all three levels to play. I like the graphics and the overall looks of the game. If this was my game, I'd try to make ball bounces a bit less chaotic. For now it's sometimes (IMHO) too hard to predict what directions it's going to go next, and especially on 3rd level the lowest bricks are hard to get cause ball may take really odd angles.

  • In a sense.. there's not been anything meaningful advance on coding since the C was created. Everything later(C++, Java, JS) has been just libraries and syntactic sugar atop that. Actually, with some additions, games like this could well be made with Lisp.    <img src="smileys/smiley23.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

IMHO the claim that one 'does not write code' with Construct is more marketing than anything real. Since all in all programming is just making bunch of instructions for computer to do what's asked to... And in the end the 'language' ain't the most important factor.

I know some people who still do games/demos etc with computers like C64 and Vic20... So it's matter of perspective I'd say.

What really matter is that tool fits the need, it does what's supposed to do and produces decent results.

  • Ah.. I thought this happens to me just because I'm too neewb to have access to some parts of the forum or something. Not sure if it's a good sign to see these problems seeming to be long term and affecting many, though.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Hi

I'm old time computer gamer, I started coding etc with C64 and then moved to Amiga.. lately not done much on game related, but have decided to give C2 a whirl and see if I can get something interesting done with it.
