  • And it actually happens the other way around.

I recently made a post to help a person that wanted help with his game, and I did, I had no idea about this rule until I wanted to edit the reply because I forgot to add a few things in the end, but I couldn't update the changed because "I could not post links with less than 500 Reputation".

This happened just a few minutes ago, and tought I should post about this here.

    Thank you for your time.

  • So just to be clear as I am not quite following as you haven't said if you posted a link or not. I am assuming what you mean is that you posted a link and it worked, then when you went to edit it, you could not because the no links below 500 reputation rule kicked in?

Honestly, you got lucky that it allowed you to post a link the first time. I would be happy about that, most don't get to until 500.

  • Which of your posts was it, Arcanith ? Anyone can paste the text of a URL into their post, but users with fewer than 500 rep can't embed direct links (i.e., links you click on to follow).

I'm guessing what happened is you pasted a URL, but not a hyperlink.

  • I knew I forgot something here. Here is the post where it has shown the error when trying to edit the post without actually touching the link.

I tryed it out again today, and it gave me the same thing. Here is the message that shows up.

Sorry for the lack of information, I was sort of in a hurry yesterday.

Interesting ... you also posted an active link on the real-life pictures thread. Glitchy, but at least you aren't a troll, so no harm =P

It might just be a bit frustrating until either Tom figures out what's going on or you hit 500 rep.

I can see you've been trying to find ways to increase your rep, and you've already done two of the easiest ones (first comment, upvoting a comment), but there are also Scirra subscriptions which will net you another 150, as I discuss in the How Do I Quickly Get Reputation Points? thread.

    Good luck!

  • It would be a bother on my behalf if I were to be considered a troll, I'm probably the exact oposite of them! But hopefully this can be fixed in some way, I really love to help as best as I can.

Well, half-true, I'm more of a achivement, everything that has goals ahead is something to motivate me, and what this forum has different from others is precisely the badges! Not sure if Rep does more rather than just telling how much time it was spent on the Forums or something, but if it trully has a meaning then depending on what it is I might get it high eventually. But just to be sure, I will do those steps just in case I do get in trouble for having less than 500 Rep and posting links around the forum like crazy, I think that, counting with the one on this one, I'm at 4-5 links already!

Thank you for the great tutorial by the way!

  • Well, this is a little embarasing, I wanted to edit the reply to say "achivement hunter" and couldn't do it precisely because of the same error since the quote contains an URL.

    Sorry for double post.

  • Hello,

Just made a small change. If you're on our whitelist you can post hyperlinks. I've added you to the whitelist so it shouldn't be a problem for you any more.

    Thanks for helping out!

    Tom

  • Anytime, hopefully this will be fixed so the others won't be bothered by this problem!

  • Well. apparently this ain't been fixed yet.

I tend to think this reputation.hunt ain't a best way to treat people who have spend 100? (or so) on a program. I understand the need to limit random-bot-logins from spamming the site.

  • While ranting (I cant edit my previous post at all?) :.

Also, those reputation-quests seem to be quite odd. For example I have no idea how to get: Evaluator or Eye to Eye

And for the others.. I don't support Google+ so I'm definitely not going to +1 anything..

Edit: I have to admit, that even though this reputation system is not well explained, it apparently is indeed possible to ramp 1000 (or more) points on nine days.

You don't need to buy the software to have an account on the forum. Forum accounts are free. Because Forums accounts are free the rep limits are to reduce spam; which for the most part are doing fine.

However you do raise a point. I think anyone who pays for a Personal License should automatically get a pass for many of the limits.

  • I know.. I did read the forum quite some time before jumping in. I could have registered earlier, but didn't feel any mandatory need to do so.
