  • We are looking to license a browser-based trivia game which possesses the following basic specs: two-player, split screen, mobile-friendly (iOS & Android), American English localization, and timer (fastest time attribute). In addition, the game needs to have a difficulty-structure which permits increasingly difficult questions and/or faster time limits. We will provide the database of questions and answers, which also means we need to be able to have our program director directly modify the questions and answers database. We do have an intermediate proficiency with AJAX and JSON. The game would need to be operational (and beta tested) by May 24, 2021.

If you have an existing game which meets these basic requirements or have a game which can be upgraded to meet these requirements, you can reach us at jhjgzk@organicconnects.org.

  • IS there a way to eliminate the upper and lower black bars on the video plugin?

  • HAs anybody figured out how to use a listbox on a mobile device. Specifically, how to add multiple selections to an array or string. If you have a .capx that would be fantastic

  • The game itself is browser-based. It works on laptop, but when running on a mobile device, Lists and other various features won't operate correctly. I would think because the game is browser-based it shouldn't make a difference...obviously not. Any feedback and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Here's the problem. The base app migrates selected items from a 'List box' plugin to a string. However, when operating from a mobile device, you can only check boxes (one or more).

So, is there a way (or does anyone have a sample .capx) to migrate the checked items in the 'List box' plugin to a string.

    Thanks much!

  • Got it. Thanks much.

  • Thanks Dop2000 for responding. I was able to make it work.

BTW - what does "BUMP" mean?

  • Anyone have a capx or suggestion on how to migrate through a text item with multiple instance variables?

Basically what I need to do is compare a Text item (with multiple instance variables) against an array and when a set of values in the array "equal" the multiple instance variables of each Text item it will assign a value to that text item. I'm using a For-Each Loop right now, but it will only "compute" the first Text item and then stops.

    Thanks in advance!

  • AJAX is not downloading and when checking the debugger if you click on AJAX (on the lefthand side column) it begins to blink and you can't shut it down other than restarting the browser tab.

Anyone having (or had) a similar situation?

  • I will have to research the nwjs executable. Question: if the client app is exported as HTML5 will it still sync with the host app of it is exported via the nwjs?

On the side note: if the host version, which is accessing datafiles which need to be kept secured, is unified with the peer version, won’t a hacker be able to more easily access the datafiles? And when you say unified, do you mean that they both the host and peer projects are combined into one .capx (and export file)?

Per your suggestion, I’ve already started researching the VNC (TightVNC) solution. I see I am going to have to spend some time digesting this solution.

For now, the one piece that is evading me (the forest for the trees metaphor) is, from a technical perspective, how do you get the browser on the server? Is it a plug-in, a script, something else?

Oosyrag, I appreciate your help and advice on this evolution…it won’t be forgotten.

  • So, I did follow the multiplayer tutorials and I can run an online game with three browsers: 2 are clients which use a similar .capx and 1 is the host lobby "game" which uses a separate .capx and passes info back and forth from the two clients.

And this gets to the kernel of my earlier question: what software/process do I use to run the host lobby "game" capx without using my actual computer. Is there a plug-n-play app (which I can load on the server) which will virtually run the host lobby "game" app or do I need to code something on the serve-side?

  • So after completing additional research, I have found that HostGator (and plenty of others) have the required VPS or dedicated servers to support a "permanent" host for a multiplayer game.

The question is setting up the virtual tab/browser/destop/host version on the actual server.

    Feedback/suggestions anyone?

  • I am now aware that I will need a game server to serve as the permanent host for our multiplayer game. I'm considering AWS, Vultr, OVH, because they have low-cost options which are adequate for the start-up phase of our project.

Question: Do we need to know any coding knowledge to set-up the permanent host on the server? If yes (or no) is there a tutorial or guide which we can follow to set up the permanent host?
