Using 'List' on a mobile phone

Here's the problem. The base app migrates selected items from a 'List box' plugin to a string. However, when operating from a mobile device, you can only check boxes (one or more).

So, is there a way (or does anyone have a sample .capx) to migrate the checked items in the 'List box' plugin to a string.
