  • Hello all!

Does anyone have any experience using Sprite fonts with non-Latin character sets. I'm working on getting my game translated into Chinese, Japanese and a few other languages with non-Latin characters sets.

    * One option is to get a list of every character used and put all the characters from every language in one giant sprite font, but I imagine it'd be way too large.

    * I wish there was some sort of "Load sprite for sprite font" action.

    * But otherwise I think it'd be good to have one sprite font per language. I have something kinda working with families, but it's very complicated with two English sprite fonts

    Any other ideas? Thanks!!

  • Magistross Hello. This is this is the game I ended up creating. If you see the story mode parts, that's where I used your plugin

    Thanks again!

Question! I'm starting to work on localization. Do you foresee any issues using your template to support non-Latin languages like Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Korean, etc? I think as long as I have the character sets and the sprite fonts setup correctly it should work?

    Thanks!

  • Hello all,

It's been awhile. I just released my mobile game Art Club Challenge on iOS last week. <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

And here are a number of screenshots from the game.

It was a very challenging but fun project to design. We did a number of cool things with C2, especially using the challenge engine I designed to detect the different features of the artworks.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and if you think you'd like it give it a download. <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile"> Very much appreciated!

    Cheers!!

  • Actually I lied... :X I may have a Cordova plugin that will require me to use PNG. What's the possibility of getting an option of being able to configure the filetype as JPEG or PNG?

I'll keep you posted if I find out otherwise.

    Thanks!

  • Ok cool. Thanks again!

  • Mikal Ooops! Sorry, I posted it late and copied the wrong user name.

Magistross The below message was meant for you

Mikal First off THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS ASSET!! You saved the story mode in my game. I've already extended the code by adding about 8 different commands. Very cleanly written and I love that it doesn't need any 3rd party plugins.

Quick question. By default each character is show after DIALOGUE_DEFAULTDELAY time. How difficult would it be to get each word to appear instead of a character. I assume I'd need to modify the "Dialogue_NextChar" function to look for spaces as a delimiter, but I wasn't sure how much trouble it would be to get working. It's a "nice to have" feature so if it's too much to change, no worries.

    Thanks again!

  • Works perfectly! I'm super excited about this.

Quick question. I'm assuming the images are in PNG format?

  • UPDATE: Alright, so C2 started crashing on me again. I was trying to figure out what was different and realized I'm at a coffee shop and running on battery.

After some testing I found C2 runs fine on the NVidia dedicated graphics chip, but when it's running on the Intel Integrated chip it crashes. I can force C2 to run on the NVidia chip and that's an acceptable quickfix for the time being. I think I recall seeing something related to Intel in the patch notes, I'll need to look again.

But now, who does this bug get reported to?

  • Good news! It seems to have resolved itself? I have no idea how or why. I'll see if I can pinpoint what changed, I applied updates yesterday and they didn't fix it. Thanks!

  • Sorry, was out of town for a game jam documentary shoot. ...Point though. Do you have any advice, or resources you can point me to for reporting issues to Microsoft?

I waited until patch Tuesday and it's still a problem. I'm just a bit worried about my investment in the marketing, trailer, and PR with the launch coming up so soon and this issue. Is there any precedent for reporting bugs to Microsoft?

Scirra doesn't offer paid support for corporate entities, correct? Any other ideas? I suppose I could reset the OS, but that's an absolute last last ditch effort and would be very disruptive.

    Thanks

  • Problem Description

After installing Windows update KB4053580, Construct 2 crashes when opening any capx file. I've tested roughly a dozen capx file to make sure there wasn't something else I was missing. I've observed this behavior in r244 and r250.

Uninstalling Windows update KB4053580 via Windows system recovery immediately resolves the issue. I've done this process twice to verify.

    --

After performing the system recovery I accidentally had the update install while C2 was running, it immediately crashed once the update was installed. C2 would not run until I rolled back the update

  • Ashley FWIW I also installed r250(just to see if it was any different) and getting the same crash after launching a capx.

I tried removing the license file as someone else did and it's still crashing. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still getting a crash. All in r250 as well.

If you feel my issue is inconsistent with the other reports I'll create a separate thread for r244. Let me know!

    Thanks

  • I'm getting the same thing in r244. I tried reinstalling, uninstalling/reinstalling and still getting the same error.

C2 launches fine for me, but whenever I try to launch any projects is when it locks up and crashes. Even trying to create a new project results in the same lockup and crash

I can't upgrade to r250 at the moment, the team is on a compressed deadline and we'll be shipping soon.

The only thing I can think of that's different is when I tried using C2 I got the pop up message about a new update. After that it hasn't been working. :/

    ---

I tried launching it with wifi disabled to see if it was a "phone home" error, but still results in the same lock up and crash.

The following Windows update were installed yesterday. Which is a day between when C2 was working and it not working now:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... tware-remo

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... -kb4053580

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... er-12-2017

And an update to the Intel Graphics driver.

The timeline does align with the issue. Let me know if you have any other questions!
