  • Is it possible, and how, can I change image point usage during game play for upgrades? My ship has three image points. One is the default weapon. I want to grab an item that will allow me to change from using image point 1 to using points 2 and 3 (shutting off 1) to use a different weapon. I can grab the item (doing same method to grab a health pack) but not sure how to enable and disable image points, if possible.

    Maybe the idea would be to make a copy of the object (the ship) using the two points, and a trigger to switch the object instead?

    scidave, I am no child and yes, I have no money. Been laid off. Money very tight. You need to understand that not everyone will even have an easy $10 or $60 to spare when there are other priorities. Unless you are rich or financially stable, money can be a rarity. I hope you can now understand a bit more.

  • I realize now the sounds would not work from the CAP because they are still linked to the file until made into an EXE, where they become resources.

    I have made all changes such as:

    + System: Start of layout

    -> XAudio2: Autoplay resource "Skillet - Hero (instrumental).wav" (Loop)

    + System: Every 800 milliseconds

    -> System: Create object BossPulse on layer 1 at (0, 0) from Boss001 's image point 3

    -> XAudio2: Autoplay resource "imphenzia_soundtrack_laser35.wav" (No loop)

    -> System: Create object EnemyLaser4 on layer 1 at (0, 0) from Boss001 's image point 2

    -> System: Create object EnemyLaser4 on layer 1 at (0, 0) from Boss001 's image point 1

    + System: Every 1000 milliseconds

    -> System: Create object EnemyLaser1 on layer 1 at (0, 0) from Enemy001 's image point 1

    -> XAudio2: Autoplay resource "imphenzia_soundtrack_laser09.wav" (No loop)

    + MouseKeyboard: On key Space pressed

    -> System: Create object Bullet on layer 1 at (0, 0) from Hero 's image point 1

    -> XAudio2: Autoplay resource "imphenzia_soundtrack_laser36.wav" (No loop)

    The only one that would not work right without the TRIGGER was this:

    + System: Is global variable 'Boss001' Less or equal 0

    -> Boss001: Destroy

    -> System: Add 500 to global variable 'Score'

    -> System: Set global variable 'Mode' to 2

    + System: Trigger once

    -> XAudio2: Autoplay resource "bigboom.wav" (No loop)

    If I took line "XAudio2: Autoplay resource "bigboom.wav" (No loop)" and put it in with "-> Boss001: Destroy," it still goes choppy. Having this one sound in TRIGGER made it work, and the rest were able to work fine as you saw above.

    Now, I am not sure right now the difference between using a channel and doing it the above way, but at this time, all sounds work fine. Thank you.

    But if versions commercial and free are going to have the same exact features, just differences in licensing, then I am in the clear right now.

    It is not that I am against paying for anything, I just do not have available funds, nor am I going to sell anything I make.

  • Looking for Some Options on CC/C2... for My Future

    Just some opinions if I could grab them base don some ideas on where to go right now.

    I started a space shooter game for my final project for my bachelors in science for game and simulation programming (which I passed [got to get and reply to those past posts too]). Things have been crazy here as I was just laid off too that same week, after fifteen years. So, looking for a new job now, and time to try and put my degree to use.

    Sorry for the rambles. Anyway, I am going between in continuing to make my space shooter in CC or manually copy things once by one (since there is no conversion) into C2. My other idea was keep doing the space in CC and do a, say RPG, in C2. All this though, in hopes that the free version of C2 will still be fully functional and feature exact as C2 for commercial use (I do not plan to sell my games, etc. Just for me they are). I am also assuming that a game in C2 free would easily be ported to C2 commercial if someone did want to sell the game (just my assumption). Maybe CC is all I will ever be able to do since money is not an option for me (or ever was).

    From what I understand, CC will still be maintained and updated by the community only (will the live update work or updates will be posted somewhere) while C2 will be done strictly my Scirra.

    Any thoughts anyone would like to chime in for me to through in my Bag of Considerations?

    I made a Media File account since it seems the easiest way to be sharing files here.

    Pretty much all other sounds disabled, except Hero so I know sound is working.

    This is the boss info at the bottom of the event page. This was my latest attempt, but as mentioned I have tried an empty channel (3).

  • Currently it is working again, logging in.

    I grabbed another temp password,

    logged in and changed it,

    tried it,

    logged out and back in and it works.
