  • Thanks, the simplicity is part of the reason I thought it would be a good style of game to do as all my attempts so far my coding ability has limited me and led to issues further down the line.

SimoneT you post is extremely helpful thank you.

  • I don't know if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything. Anyway I want to make a side scrolling adventure game where you enter buildings and different rooms and so on.

I notice many people make metroidvania games on one layout and I figure i could do it that way, but wondered what the benefits are versus multiple layouts?

I'm currently coming up with the scenario and designs but soon i will be starting the coding and not sure how best to structure it mechanically.

  • if they just took the basic idea, I would do nothing. There is nothing new under the sun after all.

IF however they stole my game, graphics, sounds and code, then I would look to take action.

  • I'm new to construct 2 and still figuring this out myself but...

modes could be done via instance variables, the trick is to set what changes the instance variable, it could be random or triggered by x position...

  • Quite an impressive little game you have there. keep up the good work.

  • Looking really good. I may get round to making a similar styled game eventually but I think I have a lot more to learn first.

  • So far so good. Yes it looks a lot like limbo, but limbo is a great game and t's no bad think if it's like another game as long as it's a good game. I've considered making a game like that. Limbo didn't invent the silhouette look after all. Go ahead but use the feedback you've received to fuel your fire not extinguish it.

  • A video of a WIP level of Storm Warrior (name is a place holder)

  • looks promising.

  • it certainly looks the part, but as yet doesn't seem to have a clear focus, but I still enjoyed playing it.

  • to be honest losing 50% would be okay as long as you look at it long term. from one game getting exposure, you may have more interest on subsequent games. MAY.

  • I checked it out and left an... honest review for you. My only complaint is that the ads repeated a couple of times. By which I waited for the skip counter, pressed the X and the ad started over... grrr. good for ad revenue I suppose.

  • This is a screenshot from my first game. I'm aiming for a Rastan saga kind of feel with vaguely megadrive/genesis style graphics. Well to be honest, I think Rastan with touches of castlevania and shadow of the beast as I aim to have more focus on story than Rastan or Volgarr the viking. The base character mechanics are in place, some enemies are mostly working but need refining. level design is comic along. The plan is for 4 areas, each with 3 levels and then a final level.

  • Spread the word, baby. Create a Facebook page and plug the hell out of it. Perhaps you could use project wonderful for advertising. You can pay for advertising or do free 2 day bids as well.
