EpicRaid's Forum Posts

  • So yeah, obviously, you just use this icon:

to insert the code, then type the username as it appears on the forum. Can't believe I just discovered that 10 minutes later.

  • I know this topic is 2 years old , but is there any new list for html5 ACTIVE publishers? Thanks!

The post posted (just above yours) is probably the most reliable out there that I know of. Not sure if True Valhalla actually regularly updates the list though. Because that would be nice. All I know is that he created the list originally in 2015 or 2016.

Also, what I'd like to see is a much more detailed list, could be anyone posting it, with details as to what kind of games they want/accept. Like; mobile, desktop or both, or native, and which audience they cater to (kids, adults, teens etc). Of course, quality of your game should always be top notch, but knowing which publishers have the highest requirements would also be nice for us 'newcomers'.

I'm also very curious as to which publishers accept Construct 2 games, granted that we use a custom loading bar/splash.

  • This has kinda been puzzling me for a time now.

Some users have a space in their name. When you hover over their user name, and look at the status bar in your browser you will see the space has been replaced by a dash, and to add to confusion the characters are all lower case. So how to reference someone? I tried adding the dash myself by you'll just get that '@ --' thingy in your post.

    Thanks.

  • Hey,

Cool you checked out my game. Well, it's more of a demo than a full game.

Yes the pedestrians spark a lot of interest, people who play the game like to see features like being able to rob them for example.

What did you mean by 'signage' though? Like street signs.. or..? Same for 'pan handling mechanics'. You mean like panning around the screen?

I like your idea about street performance. Of course, knowing myself, I probably won't work on the game anymore, since I tend to lose interest after it's 'complete' within a certain scope. Might be different if I didn't have to do all the programming myself, since I'm stil learning and regularly encounter - for me - infuriating issues. I do like to make graphics and game ideas.

Anyway, it was mostly based on the game 'Rags to Riches' for the C64. I never played that game - did see footage of it - and when was inspired to make something similar but with a a twist of course but the same goal; make money from a bum to a wealthy person.

Yeah about robbing and sueing, this game is probably suitable for 16+ or something for a specific audience. Although there isn't any actual visible violence in the game.

I don't know about any similar games like this one. I figure this one alone is hard to find if you were looking for it, since it's not promoted, popular or otherwise known outside this topic and the Scirra Arcade. Well, if you type in 'Lousy Bum' in Google the game does get listed on the first page, lol.

One guy called 'MO SALAAH' said he set the highscore of $8,096 as a guest. That's quite impressive and if anyone is up for it he asks that someone try to beat his score!

  • Hey, just wondering, what's your personal background in developing games? Have you worked on large projects similar to this before?

Myself I am basically still 'new' to making games, although I started creating ideas for games at a very young age. It wasn't until I came across HTML5/Construct 2 that I was actually able to build games. I tried Flash before, but Actionscript or any coding without WYSIWYG editors are just not for me.

3 or 4 years to create art is indeed a long time. I don't know your situation, working, married etc, I'm just saying these two things alone can hinder you from freeing up some time to create (art for) the game. :P

Time IS money as they say. Anyway, I hope you can find a good audience, I use an adblocker so I won't be seeing any ads anywhere. Word of mouth is probably the best advertising you can get.

Oh, and don't forget to add 'chem trails' to the ingame ship, lol.

  • I like the idea. Navigate, fly, explore, land, adventure. Make sure you watch the scope of the game, that's a common pitfall, at least for me, but it looks cool so far. Just need to work on the graphics. But I assume they're placeholders mostly.

Ah, just watched your Kickstarter page. $80,000 is a lot of money to gather. Actively looking for pledgers will be an important task the coming days, if you ask me. I wish you and your team the best of luck!

  • I have not checked out any 3D engines like Unity or Unreal for example, but hey, if it has the ease of use Construct has and you can create 3D games that'd be pretty interesting.

I've got plenty of ideas for 3D games, but then again if you think about it, you will need to up your own skills as it will require 3D models. Everything will just be way more complicated. Programming too.

  • Sorry I never published on Google Play OR the App Store.

What do you mean by 'test'? The game is public now isn't it? You should probably test the game on another platform like the Scirra Arcade or host it. So people can play and test. Then publish on Play.

Anyway, I still think the graphics could use an overhaul. For example; some graphics are drawn with 1x1 pixels and others are much larger, more like 6x6 or bigger. The graphics just looks out of proportion and I'd make it look more .. uniform. Also, the text displayed isn't a pixel font either.

Maybe that's just me being a perfectionist, although I do think if you want to compete with the 'big boys' you will need to update them.

  • I have not played the game but I think you need to work on the graphics.

Regardless, curious about the gameplay, perhaps you could upload the web version online.

  • Impressive. Did you make/recreate all the graphics by hand or ran them through a filter of some sort?

It looks very authentic as well. Small things. Like how the splash screen 'resets'.

  • Good concept, I see many of these games with very simplistic gameplay yet nice cartoony graphics. I wonder which target audience plays these games?

  • Hi busydude

What about tablets for example? Won't you need a lot of extra art?

I also noticed the resolution changes depending on portrait or landscape. Since the white areas are in a different place. This makes it only more confusing.

    Can't figure this thing out!
