  • I'm a diehard capitalist and even I feel uneasy at the ridiculous level of specialization in those plugins (You have to buy push and local notifications separately? iAds and AdMob? Are you kidding?) - hopefully there's a heavily subsidized Phonegap bundle. Can you imagine if the Q3D plugin was released in a similar fashion?

    Luckily the free market will dictate this one - and I look forward to Scirra's own advancements.

  • Dragging and dropping a c2addon into layout does not prompt plugin install.

    This is certainly not a bug as I installed this exact plugin (FGL) 3 days ago, though since then I have factory restored my PC, on attempting to reinstall everything I noticed I could no longer drag and drop install.

    I am using C2 r173 on Windows 7 64-bit, with an activated personal licence.

    Is there any other way to get a c2addon file to work? File association yields no results.

  • The tutorial section is full of info, and the manual is fantastically detailed.

    There is however a book on Amazon written by a forum member IIRC.

  • An Angry Birds clone is undoubtedly the game you want to use as your example, easily relatable examples will make learning much easier, as students are looking at something they already know, but in a different way.

  • The above video seems to use what I was going to suggest, simply using a generic rewind sound effect (garbled audio) to overlay the current music.

  • Ashley said that the company was originally going to be called Scirrus (the portmanteau of science and cirrus, after the cirrus cloud) but the scirrus.com domain wasn't available, so he simply experimented with changing the ending of the word until he found one he liked - thus Scirra.

  • For comparisons sake I ran the game smooth as butter on a 5 year old laptop with poor ventilation and a 13 tab Chrome browser plus various programs open in the background (Photoshop, Word, PowerPoint etc.) and the audio was fine, as was the frame rate.

    The only issues I had:

    The game froze twice, once for about a second and a second time for 4 seconds, after which I stopped playing and noticed the temperature was at egg-frying levels.

    Plugging in my (admittedly 3rd party) 360 pad part way through the game didn't work, although restarting the program worked fine!

  • I'd love to know how the notification e-mails are sent out - the one time I've managed to grab a medal for a download I noticed by e-mail was received about 4 minutes after the lightning draw times, are they sent in batches? Or do certain mail providers take longer to vet mass e-mails?

    Either way the download race has always amused me, I think it's great fun!
