  • I'm sorry but I don't get what all the rage is about in this thread. It's really neat, yes, but that's about it. C2 is a 2D game engine, and would still need to be heavily adapted to be able to create 3D games.

And yes, I see the rotating cube. No, that is not a game. To invest time and effort into something of significance will require a lot more development and probably many more months, as well as continuing support by the original creator.

Not to be all realist on you guys, but there's a reason Scirra hasn't messed with 3D yet.

  • Derqs, here ya go: http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/44976.htm

Also, looking forward to what you'll be doing with the game, Tekniko, just be wary of revealing anything here to the folks at Enterbrain or the RPGM sites, since, as far as I've been told, you cannot publicly release a game using RMVX/Ace/XP graphics as per EULA: http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/support/information/eula

Edit: also, the license for the icon set is CC BY 3.0 is anyone is wondering.

Edit again: nope yeah, reading more into the EULA, you can't distribute anything with the RTP graphics unless it's explicitly made with one of their other RPG Maker titles.

  • I'm surprised at the lack of attention this has. I've seen multiple requests to lock the cursor, before. :p

Either way, thanks! I don't have a use for it now, but may, sometime in the future.

  • I noticed something similar with my own project and I believe you are correct. However, I'm not sure why you would need to detect whether or not the mouse has clicked the button. Shouldn't you simply be testing in an event whether or not the button has been clicked regardless of mouse?

Though I must say having an event I can use as a "while button down" would be really handy, because I have a "block" feature in my game that is supposed to occur while a button is being held down, but there are no events for that (that I've been able to find, anyway) so I have used instead a custom sprite object as a button.

  • Thanks for giving us the heads up. I look forward to watching your progress!

  • diogomuller glad to hear! :D I will try to make it as smooth a system as possible.

Tekniko why thank you. I try. :)

  • I just today found this site, it's called the "GameDev Market."

Basically, they are going to be a platform for indie developers to buy and sell resources, and are currently in launch phase. RIght now you can submit resources, but they will not be public until May 30th.

Submission works as so: everything has to be approved, and they have a host of options related to selling. Some of which I've seen on the sell page are: Category, primary and secondary genres, pro or basic (which means what the buyer can use them for), tag and taglines, and whether or not they can be used for promotions (kinda like Steam Sales).

I believe they also support versioning, though I'm not entirely sure how that works, at the moment.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Do you have a screenshot of your events? What kind of variable(s) do you use to keep track of money? Do you use multiple layouts?

  • Should be the same or close to this one:

  • Please do create a tutorial. It would be very useful, thanks!

  • Oh, I saw format factory on your list of programs for audio conversion. I'd actually recommend against that in favor of other software (since I've used FF and alternatives).

Audacity always work better for me to preserve the quality of files. Whenever I need to convert an MP3, Ogg Vorbis, or other lossy codec to WAV, Audacity converts a little better and has more options.

If you wanna try it out, it's a free and open source program.

  • Eisenhans, considering this is a first release, are you really surprised at the lack of options? I'm just glad we have an official plugin, because since Scirra has shown they are beginning to implement it, there are lots more opportunities with the Twitter API.

I was also confused at first. I think, yeah, it's a pain the way it's currently set up, having to reload the button every time. But it's not much of a hassle since you can make it work with just one whole additional action.

Matter of fact, I was gonna make a tutorial on using the basic share functions, but as soon as they fix the layout reset bug with the button.

  • Arima nice! That's definitely something to keep in mind. The difference is definitely noticeable, too.

  • I know this is a bit off-topic, but I wanted to plug http://www.reddit.com/r/Construct2/ as a good Sub-Reddit for anything related to C2.

For example, if you wanna post the link to the new Wiki page, on the Reddit page, that would be good for other users to see. <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">
