  • Thank you Pixel, I'll give that a try.

  • I want to create copies of the same object with random sizes, but I don't want their proportions to be distorted.

    I tried;

    *set height*

    35 + (random 20)

    *set width*

    40 + (random 20)

35 and 40 are the original dimensions. The problem is that unless both random numbers are the same the image either looks squished or stretched.

Is there a way to generate a random number and then add/subtract that number to another value?

(could it be done with global or private variables? that's the only way I imagine it would work but I'm not entirely sure how to do it in this case...)

    -thanks!

  • Is the constant zooming in and zooming out intentional, or is it just my computer?

I like your art style and the music but that zooming is really annoying.

  • What's wrong, Disney? Don't you know how you use layers?

(thank you for posting that, mahler)

  • Congratulations, my good sir.

Just thinking about my darling little nieces never fails to bring a smile to my face.

  • Damn. This is the first .cap in a long time that I haven't been able to run.

(almost certainly the fault of my computer... sometimes it feels like being a bitch)

  • Fine, go to her... go to your Black Crystal whore

  • Release early, release often and let your users tell you where they want to go. In the end, they're the ones using the application, anyway.

  • Pretty fun, lokijki. Thanks for for posting your game.

  • And what about that Terminator 2-dude and the robot dog? I want to understand the joke.

If you were to compare Construct and Stencyl as robots, Construct would be the T-1000 (a seriously baddass and incredibly advanced robot...err, Cyborg).

Wait, isn't it an Android created with manufactured organic skin and flesh? I thought a cyborg was a human that is augmented by robotics...?

...and Stencyl would be "Aibo", the sort of neat but mostly useless and definitely "un-baddass" real-life robot.

What? I don't get the picture and why was the april update laughable at best?

The joke is that Stencyl has nothing at all to show. Who knows what the interface will look like, let alone any examples of games?

The "April Mini-Update" was just yet another repeat of what they've been saying for a long time now. "We've made plenty of progress, but we can't show you ANY of it. The Beta testing will start eventually... but YOU probably won't be invited (I'm not specifically referring to YOU )".

    Meh.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • It supports DirectX 9, which is a good move. From what little information that they give it seems like Black Crystal is focused on making MMOG's easier to make.

It's kind of hard to form an opinion on a program that seems to be quite early in development.

(Sorry for nitpicking, but "Black Crystal" isn't a very good name...)

  • Actually... this is more appropriate.

(sorry, but the April "mini update" was laughable at best.)

  • Heh.

  • I don't know why they won't even release a few screenshots or demo games - it would dispel any suspicions of vapourware, nobody's going to run off with their content and steal their millions, people would take them more seriously, and by the looks of things most of their userbase would detonate with excitement!

    Stealth mode, Ashley. Stealth Mode!

All jokes aside, I do wish the Stencyl team good luck. I seriously doubt that I'll go beyond messing around with it for one day but "the more the merrier".
