  • RedBlackSpade - Thanks. I will try and post some new screens in the coming days. There is a lot to show.

HR78 - Hey, thanks. I really like how he is turning up. Can't wait to push him even further with dialogue.

In the meantime I would like to share a small, but special update on the project.

Last week we attended Sofia Game Jam 2016, part ot this year's edition of Global Game Jam and debuted our new arcade machine called 'Hammer - 3000'

It took us exactly two weeks to complete it and we couldn't do it without help from our great friends. It was hard, but at the same time it was a blast working on this project. We intend to use it for presentation purposes, as we plan to visit some of the local ( EU ) indie game festivals.

Also we plan to visit this year's 'Casual Connect' in Amsterdam., so if you happen to be there, come and say hi.

  • j0schi - Thank you.

We just wanted to let you guys know that we are hard at work on the game.

If you are a follower of the project or me, you may have noticed that I used 'we' instead of 'I' and you will be correct.

A second human joined the game! ( more on that later )

Now that I have a helping hand ( more like two ) a lot more can be done. Expect more stages, more bosses, cutscenes and more.

I will also try to post more frequently.

    Cheers

  • Wolod purplemonkey - Thank you guys.

    Hey, thanks. Onto your questions:

Right now I am working on a additional system for level randomization. There won't be different levels, but instead the current one will evolve. I am just one guy working at the project and as of now.

Yeah, I would really love to add some characters for you ( the player ) to choose from. At some point in time I will contact some fellow indie developers and ask them if they would like to join the battle.

Weather has an impact on gameplay, but it is rather small. Some "obstacles" work differently under some weather conditions.

    Once again, thank you all.

  • blekdar Thanks

It took me around 80 days and 1/3 of the 3333 votes were 'Yes'. I was around 60% from top 100.

  • Ralph - Thanks mate

Awesome news everyone. "No More Probes" has been greenlit! I am so happy right now. Thanks to all 3333 of you who took interest and supported my game.

  • Aurel

I am quite new to osx, so can you explain it a bit more.

From what I read in this topic, running c2 games on mac is not desirable as you will get performance issues? Am I correct or there is a way to run your games and still get 60 fps.

EDIT: OK, I have selected 'Get Info', then checked 'Open In Low Resolution' and now the game runs at solid 60 frames. Not sure what it does, but it works

  • +1

  • Hi all,

Having the same performance issue when running 'No More Probes' on MacBook Pro 13' 2015. I am not sure why, but when I run the game in browser the fps is around 58, but when I start the game from a nw it goes to 28-29.

When I shrink the window size it goes to 60. Is this to be expected?

  • DevLog #16

    • new bonus track
    • bonus stage is now ready
  • DevLog# 15

    • updated main menu visuals with new animations and fx
    • added build meter
    • new controls screens for keyboard and game pad
    • fixed a bug where you couldn't complete the bonus stage on keyboard
    • fixed a bug which prevented you to complete the boss stage
  • That looks really good. Reminds me of Homeworld series, which is really nice.

There is one thing that bothers me though. I am not sure why, but some of your background elements have a washed out, grey look to them. Maybe it has to do with the filter that you use or it can be in your source files, but the colors looked washed out to me. If you are going for a nebula look, then I guess it will be better if you add more colors and go for overlay.

  • Nice one, and I really like the concept of the game.

    Is this final art?

  • Not sure why, but I can't load the game. It starts loading then it goes red and stops.

Sorry for the off topic, but I saw the discussion on page-2 on how you make your gifs movies and wanted to reply. There is a small free program called GifCam which is light, easy to use and quicker imho. I hope it helps.

Anyway, once I again I want to say that you have an awesome looking game.

    Cheers

  • Angiel Hey man, thanks for the comment and also for finding the time to play NMP. I am really glad that you found the tutorial level to be useful. That is some sweet feedback for my ears.

    Now onto your questions:

I do all the work for NMP except the music, which is done by a friend of mine. When I started, I had almost no experience in pixel art animation, but I do make games for more than 10 years now, so transition was fairly quick for me. I also come from animation background and that helps.

If I have to give you an advice I will say, go look at others people works. Find artists that you like and study their work. Here are some that I like Paul Robertson or Miquelito

I can also recommend that you go and take a look at This thread. There some really insightful stuff people post.

The other thing is hard work and those 10000 hours.

Not sure this was of any use to you, but if you have any pixel art related questions just pm me, and I will try to help out.
