  • C2 should be able to handle that no problem. I personally would use layouts, as it sounds easier to set up obstacles that way, but I don't think it matters as long as it works - one of those 'there isn't a best way to do it' things.

  • They say etc, so it's probably fine. Why are you asking here, though? It's their contest, so if you want to be sure, you should ask them!

  • This is a thread from the old forum. The file is here: http://69.24.73.172/scirra/forum/download/file.php?id=378&sid=4bda371930eb6e56242b3083ea8e44d6

    1) No, C2 is a 2D game engine. A link to the past style is entirely possible, though.

    2) It will be entirely capable of making RPGs when it's a little more complete (needs families and functions, mainly. Well, technically they aren't needed for an RPG, but they make things MUCH easier). It's almost there already.

Executables that are basically a wrapper for an HTML5 game are already possible, though it's not directly implemented in C2 (have to do it yourself). A native EXE exporter being made at some point is very likely either by Scirra or someone else with the exporter development kit when it is released.

  • A hardware limitation? How so? That sounds odd, since phones can play more than one sound at a time.

  • Something I think would be very handy are some extra keyboard commands for the event editor. As it is, you can already type your way through the event wizard - with these, I think it would satisfy the people who like to type code, and assist those who like to do the one hand on keyboard, other on mouse method.

    E: New event below

    Shift-E: New event above

    S: New subevent

    C: New condition

    A: New action

    D: Toggle disabled

    G: New group

F: New comment (not sure which key would be best for it - W?)

    Space - collapse/uncollapse groups

left arrow - if an action is selected, it selects the nearest condition to the left. If a condition is selected, it selects the event. Right arrow goes in the opposite direction.

Up/down arrows - goes up and down in the currently selected column.

Holding shift with up/down selects multiple ACES in that column.

Holding ctrl up/down moves the ACE in the column.

Also handy would be the ability to set the keys used in the properties - I for invert is far away from the other keys, for example.

  • I second the color settings request. I would love to be able to set all of the colors of the IDE. The high-contrast with the bright white background is a bit much after lots of use, being able to set it to something less high-contrast would be very nice.

  • Just because it's great doesn't mean it can't get even better!

  • Davioware helped me out in chat. Anyone who'd like to test the results with whatever browser they have (especially interested in mobile and older browsers), it's at http://www.loot-pursuit.com/redirect/

It should go to loot-pursuit.com/html with a C2 project that says "HTML" if there is no html5 support, loot-pursuit.com/html5 with a C2 project that says "HTML5" if there is.

I'm also interested to know if at any point the browser prompts you to run or enable scripts, or if you see the Loot Pursuit logo anywhere, which should show as a backup if the page halts for any reason.

    Thanks again, Davioware!

  • Ergh... I don't know anything about web development. I was hoping for something simple.

  • Try Construct 3

  • I want to make a normal and HTML five version of my website. I would like the person's browser to automatically detect which one it should use based upon what the browser supports and redirect to the correct version. Does anyone know how to do this?

  • Pretty suspicious stuff going on here. Reboot is pretty much the worst game ever made.

That's really unnecessary. We try to keep the forum a friendly place - even if you dislike the game, please refrain from using insults.

  • I think it was in 63, as I made the post after it happened the third time, and 63 was the latest version at that point. It hasn't happened since, perhaps it's been fixed.

  • P.S.:

Regarding touch interaction on iOS, would it be possible in the future to have an option which would automatically check onclick and ontouch conditions for an object, instead of having to select both separately? This is a small detail, but would still be a great time-saver when developing a touch- and click-enabled game where mouse click and touch on an object have the same effect.

    stiepan

    Use the touchmouse plugin.
