  • A good reference of what we could make with Construct

  • No reason this couldn't be done. After seeing those I realized I need to step up my art to a new level!

I feel inspiration coursing through me.

I wonder what I'll make with this pent up inspiration?

    Thanks for posting !

  • Wow, that's some good art

On the topic of videogame remakes, I'd really like to see Need for speed 3: Hot pursuit remade to today's standard of graphics, but keep the same soundtrack and game mechanics. That game was classy.

  • i my opinion for the pictures above, it would have to be 3d engine.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

That was my initial thought too. But since they're remakes of old classic 2d games I'm thinking maybe they're just 2d games with kickin' graphics.

  • Seeing as how those are 2D digital paintings... I fail to see the need for 3D.

  • agreed. the biggest "remake" part would be high resolution graphics compared to the original small scale pixel art

  • They're definitely some beautiful paintings, but I'm not sure how well something like that would animate. You'd probably have to make some sacrifices to the style to get it to look natural.

  • linkman, i geuss you could use bone behavior for the mario one. the backdrops are pretty easy(to program, not paint haha). The zelda one would be tough to animate though.

The Zelda one is the main one I'm talking about, actually. But really, they'd all have to be animated by hand. That Mario animated using bones would probably look a little funky in that style.

  • I don't see why you couldn't make a game that looked easily as good as those example artworks.... it just depends how much time you are prepared to spend working on the graphics.

  • I think it is perfectly possible to get That Zelda style. Of couse some 3d could help, for doing smooth animation and more effects, but, pre-rendered/prepainted sprite can do the job, helping with construct's bones, light, normalmaps tools. I can remenber that in Diablo 2 was a pseudo3d effect options. Do you think that it is possible to get that effect?

But in general it depends more on graphics side.

I can do the graphics... any voluntary for programming it

  • Why is everyone here an artist? xD

Hehe, probably true. Just tell them to join the dev team.
