Is there a client anywhere for this Ajax chat thingy? I'd rather not have my browser running constantly.

There's no client other than the popup window, sorry.

If you log into chat and find that you're unable to post, that's because of the new spam filter Ash has put on the board. You will need to first make a post on the forum too pass the spam filter.

Go ahead and post in the following thread if you don't have any other posts you need to make right now:

Once? What about people with dynamic IPs, like myself?

Then you will have to suffer under the crushing weight of having to type a word more than one time.

(I wrote that post before I knew you would have to do the confirmation each time your IP changed, sorry )

I know it might be annoying but so far it seems to have stemmed the flow of spambots - so if you don't mind typing in one word from time to time - it's saving us a lot of clean-up work to prevent spambots overrunning the forum!

Since the website upgrade the chat has stopped working. (Thanks Aeal for noticing)

I think we may as well get rid of it and use an IRC channel, since the old phpBB chat seemed to burn a lot of server bandwidth and was slow and kept saying 'Error: connection status 0'.

Is anyone already running an IRC chat? I can put links to an "official" channel in the chat window.
